NCAA Tournament(s) Update

Sure, the raving lunatics at ESPN may be looking ahead to March - because they are insane little marketing whores unable to enjoy sports being played in front of them - but the fall sports tournaments are still going on. To wit:

  • The men's soccer team opens its tournament run against Old Dominion at 7 on Fetzer Field. The victor plays the winner of the SMU / Santa Barbara matchup, being played at the same time at what we can only presume is a different location.
  • Their female counterparts continue to roll through a bracket that should really bear the school's name. The Heels beat NC Asheville 7-0 and Nay 4-0, and now meet a Tennessee team that beat Duke in a shootout after a scoreless regulation. UNC brings two Player of the Year finalists and two Freshman of the Year finalists to the game.
  • And alas, the UNC field hockey team finished their season with a 4-3 loss to Penn State in the opening round of the NCAA's. The Nittany Lions went on to lose to Maryland, who joins Wake and Duke as the three ACC teams in the Final Four.
