Tragic News From New Jersey

Jason Ray, the UNC senior who played the mascot Rameses has passed away at Hackensack Medical Center three days after being struck by an SUV near his hotel.  His family and friends are in my prayers as they endure this horrific and shocking tragedy.

Maybe I Am Just Looking For Things to Be Ticked Off About…

…but how does Greg Oden get named to the first team AP All-American team and not Tyler Hansbrough?

Has anyone enjoyed the kind of media hype to the point people abandon all common sense when it comes to voting for postseason awards?  Never mind, I know the answer to that, I watched J.J. Redick and [...]

Some Final Thoughts on Yesterday’s Debacle

If you were thinking you had seen this movie before, you had. You could easily call this game Virginia Tech: Part II because the manner in which the final six minutes unfolded was eerily reminiscent of the loss to the Hokies in Chapel Hill. In that game UNC was up seven with six minutes [...]

Well At Least Our Collapse Took 10 Minutes

Winona State did it in 45 seconds versus Barton and lost the Division II NCAA Championship on Saturday.

Congratulations to the team from Wilson, NC for winning the DII title.

This One Hurts in So Many Ways

The extent of my UNC basketball memory is roughly 25 years. It begins with a Tar Heel championship win over Georgetown and runs until a loss over that same team today. Based on these long 25 years I am confident in saying that this is the worst collapse I have ever watched a UNC team [...]

Elite Eight Part I Done

So half the Final Four is in place with Ohio State pulling away from Memphis late to win 92-76 and UCLA benefiting from the fact Kansas could not hit layups won 68-55.  UCLA spoils the All #1 Seeds Party everyone was planning for after last night and also enjoyed playing two de facto home games [...]

Roy Talks 1982

ACC Now has audio of Roy discussing what he was thinking/feeling during the final 32 seconds of the UNC victory of Georgetown in the 1982 NCAA Championship.  The striking thing about his story is the detail he remembers from that proving that (1) he is just a freaking brillant guy when it comes to basketball [...]

The Best Elite Eight Ever?

At least it is according to the seedings and that is really ironic considering we were all told that this was a new age of parity in college basketball. This Elite Eight will feature the lowest combined total of seedings ever at 13 which averages out to 1.625. Here are the seedings for the Elite [...]
