Gary Williams Is An Optimistic Fellow

Maryland had yet another key player leave the program.  According to ACC Now F Gus Gilchrist has decided to transfer.  MD already had lost JUCO player Tyree Evans and how Gilchrist is gone leaving the Terps with the fabulous frontcourt of Braxton Dupree and Jerome Burney.  Of course this does not dampen Williams’ spirit at all:

“We’re still recruiting,” Williams told the Sun. “We’re going to be good.”

Someone might want to check the bottled water in the Maryland basketball office or at least ask Gary who he thinks he is going to recruit from the class of 2008 since practically everyone who could contribute in the ACC has already committed somewhere else.  As for Maryland being good, based on the present roster, I would think not any time soon.

  • When does that obnoxious Vasquez kid graduate? I’m tired of him already.

I wasn’t aware that Maryland basketball players EVER graduated. Sure, Tom McMillen & Len Elmore did but, hey, that was a long time before Gary showed up as HC.

Did you guys hear about Lawson getting a drinking and driving ticket last night? Along with some other violations.

Vasquez, unfortunately, has two years to go, but he probably still won’t get a degree if he sticks around all four years. I also sense Gary might not have that much time himself left. In his defense, he can’t exactly say, “Man, we’re really going to suck hard this year,” but it probably wasn’t a good idea to say, “we’ll be good.”

It’s a tough time to be a Terp these days.

  • Gary has been taking media pointers from Gavin Grant.
