Catching Up On Football

Okay, I worked all weekend and have not had much time to spend on the beginning of football practice in Chapel Hill. ACC Now has a great rundown of happenings at Kenan here, here and here.

TJ Yates appears to be fully recovered from his shoulder surgery and throwing the ball well. If his body can hold up we know he has the experience to be very effective behind center.

The biggest concern after Yates is the running game which looks promising with Greg Little deciding that he will only focus on football and Ryan Houston shedding 30 lbs in the offseason which should make him more potent.

Of course given the number of close games UNC was involved in last season, finding a new kicker will be paramount. Three kickers are battling it out for the position including Connor Barth's younger brother Casey. No word on if he has a penchant for beating MIami.

Practice in Butch Davis' 2nd season will likely not yield much since most of the positions are settled and everyone is healthy. If that changes things might get interesting.
