What: Maui Invitational
Where: Lahaina Civic Center, Maui, HI
When: Monday, November 24th, 9:30 PM
TV: ESPNU
Online: JustinTV
Records: UNC 3-0; Chaminade 0-0
It is very difficult to preview a game against a Division II team that has yet to play a game. Tyler Hansbrough and his shin will be the focus of this game. Will he play? Should he play? Does it matter since I think Patrick Moody, Jack Wooten, JB Tanner, Justin Watts and Marc Campbell could probably win this game or at the very least keep it close? Given this is the first of three games I would be shocked to see any of the starters get more than 30 minutes, especially if they blow the doors off this team by halftime. Which they should do and if that is not the case something is very wrong.
UNC 110 Chaminade 54

I hope more than anything for this game is our chemistry coming together.
Isn’t that what Ralph Sampson said???
Go Heels! We need a good game it shouldn’t be a problem, For this game we need our C game we may be able to get by with a D game. 2nd round we need our B game though A would be preferrable. 3rd game needs A game A+ if all possible. Go Heels!
I’ve heard of this school before, but I am not sure how. Anyway, it’s obviously a win since we are number one and undefeated….
According to Jay Bilas, Hansbrough is out for tonight because of a new injury. I am starting to wonder if this year is just not our year given all the injuries.
When it rains, it pours!
“Isn’t that what Ralph Sampson said??? ”
I know, I know. I could have been more articulate in my post.
“I’ve heard of this school before, but I am not sure how”
They beat Ralph Sampson and Va to win the NC back in the day.
Live blogging tonight, THF?
Oh blech. Tyler hurt his ankle. According to Roy he couldn’t play if he had to. His ankle is apparently hurting him more than his shin. He might not even play all tourney. Which could be a problem in the later games. Tyler is in my prayers. Go Heels!
From Bilas’ blog:
“After Tyler Hansbrough suffered a mild tweak of his left ankle, North Carolina coach Roy Williams determined that Hansbrough would not play against Chaminade in the first round of the Maui Invitational. Williams had been feeling that three games in three days would be pushing it a bit, but was also considering playing Hansbrough on Monday and Wednesday. Instead, Hansbrough will sit Monday, and most likely play both Tuesday and Wednesday. Hansbrough will sit, but he desperately wants to play.”
Doesn’t sound like anything remotely worth fretting about.
No live blog. I will have an open thread because I don’t have ESPNU but will try watching it on the web. That makes it difficult to live blog. Depending on game times I plan on live blogging the next two games.
Roy said in his pre-game interveiw with Woody that Tyler would probably not play at all in the tournament.
I’ll believe it when I see it!
But if true, that may be for the best, anyway…
Agreed.
Well no ESPNU and the Mac is not pulling up Justintv anyone know another way to watch?
Who’s J.Tanner? I see him in the Box score.
