Okay, we can all stop shaking from withdrawals now.
There is not really much to say by way of previewing this game. The Heels stand to be a little rusty and Oral Roberts stands to be vastly inferior in every way. So my expectation is UNC might be a little sloppy but dominate the Golden Eagles. The primary question heading into this one is whether we have finally seen the end of the “Tyler Hansbrough is a gametime decision” business. Supposedly the ankle is much better after a mandatory seven day break and since the training staff figured out the practice floor beneath the Dean Dome was the cause of Hansbrough shin reaction, I suspect that is no longer a worry.
Marcus Ginyard has been cleared to play but I doubt we see him in this game. Otherwise this is one of those games that is about focus and killer instinct because if you cannot bury the Oral Roberts of the world, who can you bury.
UNC 105 ORU 65

The UNC record for 20+ point wins in a season is 18. UNC stands at 5 now. How nice would it be if the biggest question this season was how many 20 point wins UNC will get??
I saw Oral Roberts play at Creighton earlier this season. They have some speed, and even aren’t afraid to get physical, but they lack size and depth. Creighton was able to handle them pretty easily.
Doing some scouting down there, huh? Andy.
are we talking your routine withdrawal shakes…or the John Daly / Jeff Conaway crash to the floor kinda shakes? But yes, the empty void can now be filled.
Anyone notice that UNC men’s soccer plays tomorrow for the NCAA title? Frisco is very close by…maybe I’ll swing by there tomorrow. I’d bet those scalpers will be ripping me off though..
These winter break games usually have a different atmosphere due to fewer students there, allowing more fans that don’t have season tickets to come. I expect everyone will want to see Tyler break Phil Ford’s scoring record but I think it depends on how merciful Roy is. Either way, the record is Tyler’s either today or on Thursday.
Tennessee just got smacked around by Temple.
Praise the Lord! Basketball is back! I almost died! C. Micheal, what year was that? My dad went to a dook game but he refused to throw eggs at the Cameron Crazies even though he was sitting right over them. But he did notice there are several dirty players with names almost as complicated as K’s. We need to watch out once we get to that point in the season.
Yuck. Listened to the whole thing on XM. I’m one to count my blessings and let the good times roll, but this victory reaked of the ghosts of Tar Heels (recent) teams past. They simply did not finish strong, and when ORU began to aggresivley attack at the end, Roy sort of let it go. Thank God we don’t have the BCS to contend with in college hoops, because the computers may have hiccuped on this win. This game reminded me too much of how our talented teams sort of drifted in stretches over the past two seasons. Sure they did some things well, but the loss on the boards NEEDS TO BE IMPROVED. We can get all gitty with thoughts of a title, but when teams’ three-point shooters seem to be having career nights against us and we can’t out-rebound inferior teams, size and quickness-wise, we need to improve.
If the team that we saw tonight shows up against Wake…
Just pass it off as first game rust. Come NCAA tournament time, no excuses though. I expect we play much better this Thursday.
It was the 2004-2005 team.
