Have A Merry Christmas!

Given the slowness of the news right now I am going silent until December 26th.  The Heels have a busy weekend upcoming with the Car Bowl on Saturday, December 27th at 1 PM which will hopefully cap off a great season of Carolina football.  That will be followed on Sunday by basketball as Rutgers comes to Chapel Hill on Sunday at 7:45 PM.

There will be plenty going on this weekend.  Until then THF wishes you and yours an enjoyable Christmas Eve and a Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my UNC friends. Good luck in the bowl game and all that – I cannot bring myself to pull for your team, but I take solace in the fact that when Carolina wins, some of my friends are happy. Thanks to THF for another year of quality, honest blogging and to all for tolerating my occasional presence here.

Merry Christmas, happy Chanukah, happy Kwanzaa, joyous Winter Solstice, and to any atheists out there… have a day. It’s a great time to be a Tar Heel fan. Let’s all enjoy it while counting our blessings this holiday season.

thx c, i was able to watch 3 qtrs of the mater dei – st pats match up. it was my first time watching these 3 play. it was not the prettiest game but here are some nuggets for anyone interested.

dexter strickland (#1, st pats): overall a pretty frustrating afternoon with foul trouble but still showed flashes of excellence. would like to see him keep his head up more. with 10 secs left in the half, dex was given the ball but when double teamed, he quickly passed it off instead of creating a play. dex had great feel for the open man but no one could knock it down. i kept waiting for him to take over the game but something just seemed a little off. three great plays stand out: 1) a great drive to the right to beat his defender then a scoop shot to the left through a blocker, 2) 3-on-1 breakaway resulting in a MONSTER alley oop dunk for dex, 3) a 3-pt shot fake then a quick drive to the basket, freezing everyone for an easy layup.

the wears (#12 david, #24 travis, mater dei): both started the 1st half slightly off and had difficulty finishing. still, they rebounded and defended well all game and showed good finishing touches around the basket and nice jump shots in the 2nd half. they were very good on the ball defenders. they both ran up and down the court very well and showed their ability to dribble the ball. i felt that david did a better job getting more involved around the ball. i believe david also had a three pointer. to me, travis was a little less visible on the offensive end but he hit a turnaround fade away jumper at the elbow that was just a beauty.

i didn’t catch the end so i don’t know who won but i can’t wait for these 3 players to come to chapel hill next year. along with drew and a play-maker in leslie mcdonald, dex should make a (young but) great backcourt, while the wears plus thompson, davis, zeller and henson should just be sick.

  • Wow, Xavier loses to Butler? Takes a little shine off Duke dominating performance on Saturday.

  • Yes it does THF! :) I was reading over on the Duke Scout site and they were saying how terrible B. Wright was playing in the D-League. I just saw Golden State Warriors highlights tonight that displayed a Brandon Wright dunk. Such idiots over there. On that thread they were trying to make an argument that since our 05 championship, Duke has out recruited UNC. They were basing that on how bad McCants was in the NBA, how Marvin Williams did not match up to the hype, and how Brandon Wright was playing poorly in the Development League (which he is not in, he is an NBA player who has started a few games this season already), how lazy May was, how Felton was about to get his starting job lost to DJ Augustine, and how if it weren’t for the refs, Hansbrough would be nothing more than a good college player. IF YOU ASK ME, I say if it weren’t for the refs, he’d already have passed JJ Redick in the scoring department. Ever notice how on most non-conference games, it seems that Hansbrough goes to the line and gets rewarded for contact received more so than on ACC play.

JB, the notion of krat outrecruiting coach roy is hilarious. but obviously, redick is a heck of a lot better player than mccants, shavlick over marvin, mcroberts over may, jay will over felton… actually that was just the 05 champ team (not roy’s recruits). as for roy’s boys, obviously zoubek will be a better nba player than hansbrough, as will paulus be over lawson, pocious over ellington, lance thomas over thompson, plumlee over ed davis… gosh. roy just doesn’t cut it!

Sean Miller didn’t fall too far from the Herb Sendek coaching tree, it seems! Baffling losses by the bushel were what I took away from his tenure, and it looks like Miller is following in his footsteps.

Merry Christmas to all you Heels fans…you may be Godless, soulless SOBs, but you’re still alright in my book. ;)

    THF,

We all know the ANTI-CHRIST himself lives in West Durham, but why do you allow one of the “hounds of hell” on this site??? ;-)

Merry Christmas to all! Just received an early present from hubby. A Reno New Years Eve trip for us with tickets to UNC-Nevada! Wow, can’t wait. I can’t think of a better way to start a new and GREAT year. The last game we went to was Fl. State last year. We all know what happened there. I can’t wait to see Ty and the rest of the Heels for a whole game.

A somewhat belated Merry Christmas to all.

I happened to see Sean May in Southpark Mall in Charlotte yesterday, being as tardy with his shopping as I was.

It reminded me of how lucky we are today, and for so many yesterdays, to be Tar Heel fans, Winning with character. Would that other collegiate fans could have had the good fortune we have enjoyed.
