Once Curry started attacking the Duke defense, he got good results. I have no idea why he waited so long to do so. Perhaps, because it was a bit like the CoC game last night where Davidson was close and then went way behind in just a couple of minutes. You have to give the Wildcats credit for not giving up though.

Maybe you guys can think of some others but Carolina has had a fair number of bad outings either on the West coast or just after returing. We had the Santa Clara debacle in 2004. We had the USC loss in 2005 right during a period where UNC had been playing really well. Now, we have had this BC loss after returning from Nevada.

Of course, tournaments are different, because in a place like Hawaii or Alaska, none of the teams are from that time zone, with the exception of say, Chaminade, which could partially explain UVa's shocking loss there in Hawaii. Carolina has won outside the continental U.S. in 1997-98, 2004-05 and now this year.

It doesn't look like it was due to travel, but the 1997-98 Heels had a couple of poor outings during the break. They only beat Princeton 50-42, and then should have lost to Georgia and pulled off a Dean Smith-type miracle to beat the Bulldogs in overtime.

The 1998 Heels would start out 26-1 with only a loss at Maryland in overtime, but then proceeded to lose by 14 at home to NC State. They would also blow a 17-point lead in the second half at Duke, would need overtime to beat Charlotte in the second round of the NCAA tourney, and then played a game against Utah that would give last year's Kansas game a run for the money in terms of Tar Heel Fan frustration.
