Darn! I thought this was the first year we could start the "Fire Lane Kiffin" cries in Rocky Top........
I'm interested to know exactly why we couldn't get a more suitable opponent to fill the slot for Georgia Southern. I know that SEC teams don't really like to schedule tougher non conference games because of the tough conference schedule, but Butch could have had someone a little tougher come in and take that game.
This is going to be a tough year for Yates throwing the ball. If the UNC offensive line and running game is as average (if not below) as it was last year, not having Nicks, Tate, and Foster will hurt. With that being said, I wonder where Greg Little will wind up on the depth chart. Running back or receiver?

JB,
We've got a lot of basketball still to play, plus a whole season of UNC baseball. Please be patient. Fall will be here soon enough.

Wonder what the student section will look like for the FSU game? No doubt I will be eating at home or in PBO that evening, and if I need medical attention I will drive to Rex on Hwy 64.

I hope Butch Davis didn't hold a Thursday game at Kenan over Baddour's head. But I guess we'll see how bad it really is come October, and if it will ever be attempted again. I'm not against trying, but the powers that be should recognize that UNC has a stadium in the middle of campus that students can walk to, as opposed to places like NCSU where the students have to drive. It ain't wrong, just different.

Didn't it take an act of the NC Legislature to get UNC and State to play ECU in football? Yeah, that's a good use of legislative time.

As a 9-year usher in Kenan Stadium, I can tell you that by far the worst behaved fans are State Fans. But I find it funny that some State fans I know say the worst fans they've encountered are ECU fans. Pot... meet kettle.

I don't think Butch likes those cross-country games. Though, I hate that we have to replace CO with Georgia Southern. Georgia maybe, but not Georgia Southern.

He does not like traveling to the west coast. My understanding is he think it takes too much time up. Apparently he did it once at Miami and did not care for it.

I wonder if the Thursday night game was something Davis leveraged during that period when his name was mentioned in connection with the UT job.

Outside of the two "cupcakes" every game is certainly a toss up, just like a year ago.

We need decidely better QB play this year to acommodate the loss of our veteran recievers. I do believe our defense will be one of the best in the ACC if not the country due to the speed BD has recruited.

I'm leaving right now for Chapel Hill to get to the Thursday night game on time! (I do hear it is during fall break so at least classes won't be in session).

BTW, shouldn't summer have to include some form of football or basketball for us to enjoy? I mean, I dislike summer. You mow the lawn, swat gnats as you do yardwork, you try to grill out, you get buzzed by mosquitos, you try to pick tomatoes out of your garden to find you are about to get stung to death by yellowjackets as you see them bubble up out of the ground. No exciting sports to watch. Just 90 plus degree heat with high humidity, and very little breeze to enjoy. Bring on fall & winter, and the sports they deliver.
