What was he, 6'8 6'9? But that size in weight is what gave that screener the ability to level Nolan, and Reid had that same kind of bulk as well. Would Tyler have gotten away with that kind of screen? Really, I think it is a good question. I mean, he didn't get away with that clean steal he had at the top of the key a few games ago. He didn't get away with that little hook he gave the defender in the Miami game which we have grown so accustomed to seeing OTHER teams do on a regular basis. But, the screener didn't looks as if he was going to get out of the way for a full force Nolan, but should he have, as that is the purpose of a screen? I didn't appear to me the defender put a shoulder or forearm into Smith. It seemed as he was standing still and Nolan just ran full speed into it. The refs generally let the play reach some kind of stopping point before whistling it dead. The only question is whether Smith's condition warranted immediate attention instead of waiting 10 seconds.
