  • Karl Hess, nice job on finding that second foul on Hansbrough. I knew you wouldn’t let him get by with any defensive contact. If Hansbrough drew fouls like that, every team that has ever faced UNC would foul out.

Ty Lawson…WOW!!! That was an awesome display!!!

  • C. Michael

    Best half of the year?

CM. I agree! And thanks to Bobby & Deon in the 1st half. At least I will be able to hold my head up high to all those that questioned 4 in a row at Cameron. I do have doubts about the officiating though. Way to go HEELS!

Didn’t I say that Bobby and Deon were going to get better? Yes! Go Heels! Now I can look forward to senior night!

Stunning second half display. So proud of them all, especially Deon and Bobby, and utterly amazed by Ty Lawson. I caught a quick glimpse of Ty dribbling out the last second or two of the game, and waving to the Cameron Crazies. Hope the media got a good picture of it. Great win!

  • Heels Perspective

Duke, well, it just seems to me that if the 24 foot step back threes aren’t going in they’re in trouble.

Great balanced game for the Heels. Was VERY glad to see Frasor and Deon step up. Davis played well but Drew struggled but I do see an upside to him.

Roy said they worked on spacing in the 2nd half and obviously the defense was more intense, but Duke had some of the same shots in the 2nd half, but they’re legs were gone.

Game ball to Ty, shot of the game to Tyler (ANOTHER big THREE at Hansbrough Indoor). Solid efforts by Danny and Wayne. I look forward to seeing Zeller join the team next week.

Bottle the second half, play it for the rest of the year, and we will cut down the nets in Detroit.

If Lawson doesn’t make first team All America, the voting is rigged.

I’m leary of a letdown in the Miami game, but I’ll worry about that tomorrow. For tonight, this was the statement game we all wanted.

Frasor and Thompson didn’t have much of a second half, but they sure helped us out before then. It was really nice to see Bobby can some three’s. He is not the most naturally gifted player around, but he has given so much, it’s just a pleasure to see him rewarded for it.

Hansbrough will be overlooked in the analysis of this game, but it would be a mistake. We won because (1) they had no answer for Lawson (no one would have had an answer for him tonight), and (2) because we are tougher, mentally and physically, than they are. And the toughest player we have is Tyler Hansbrough.

Incidentally, I trust we all saw the elbow Singler threw at Hansbrough’s face while the two of them were on the floor after wrestling for the ball. I guess Singler has been watching Laettner tapes. He shouldn’t; that kind of play is unworthy of him.

All in all, this game marked what our team can be, and increasingly is, about.

Wow…so incredibly draining. So much at stake. I love what this team did adjustment-wise. To accomplish what Tyler and Danny have, in that atmosphere, is just incredible. I know that Tim Duncan and Rusty Larue went 4-0 at Cameron, but they didn’t face consistent top-10 Duke teams.

It’s about 12:30 and I can’t sleep…I’m so proud of this team for not only winning, but everyone stepping up. I mean, no other team can even fathom a 22-point turnaround in Cameron. No way.

Ty Lawson is also undefeated all-time at Cameron, as are Wayne and Deon…and Bobby Frasor! For those of us who suffered during the wilderness years, it just does not get ANY better. Some day we will look back and smile when we think of the great Hansbrough & Green going 4-0 at Cameron.

    I LOVE IT.

  • Great post Rathskellar and DeanF. Our guys kept their composure so well. I couldn’t be more happy for Deon and Frasor. Deon becomes a big man in big games. Did anyone notice that ED DAVIS was not scared of CIS at all?!!! Noticed how he wagged his head a few times after those blocks as if to say, “I’m bringing it” ! Tyler got some nice in-traffic rebounds, and still should have seen 2 more trips to the line. Danny made a nice 3 from the corner when we desperately needed a bucket! Wayne wasn’t content with just shooting the outside shot, as he made some nice drives to the basket, and showed an interest in getting some offensive boards as well. Lawson was laying down the “law” in Cameron tonight. Taking what the defense gave him, and really not forcing anything based on his ability. It might have looked like he was, but we all know him and know he is capable of those drive ins. Bobby, keep your head up, we all know you are talented enough to hit those 3′s like you did tonight. I am just so elated and so proud of our team and what they have accomplished tonight, and for the whole season thus far. You looked like a team worthy of cutting down the nets when all is said & done!

  • Now a word for Karl Hess, make sure the next game you officiate that the colors are not black & white but navy blue & white! Why did Mike Wood have to come over to make that call on Singler’s elbow? Why didn’t you make the call on Paulu’s reach in on Drew? Hansbrough’s second foul, what the h… was that call about? Danny Green’s 4th foul, what the heck? You made it clear who your favorite team is in the ACC, next time don’t make it so obvious!
