Over the last four years, the Tar Heels won a school-record 124 games against just 21 losses. Hansbrough and his classmates led Carolina to three Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season titles, two ACC Tournament crowns, four appearances in the NCAA Tournament, three NCAA Regional No. 1 seeds, three trips to the Elite Eight, two trips to the Final Four and the 2009 national championship.
Hard to argue with those results. I may have mentioned this before but prior to UNC winning the 2009 title, ABCers loved to play the “Roy won the 2005 title without his own players” card to discredit him. Note the mindblowingly awesome way in which Roy crushed that particular meme. With someone elses players, Roy simply won a national title. With his own players, UNC was an incredible juggernaut that crushed the life out of six NCAA Tournament opponents to cap off 124 wins in a four year span which included also 101 wins over the final three seasons. For those who do not care to calculate that is 33 wins per season when you toss the 2006 recruiting class into the mix.

In fact, Roy won a championship with the very first group of players that he recruited after getting back to Carolina.
Though I am SO proud of them it kind of hurt this morning to see this picture. They will be greatly missed! BTW, did anyone see the Mich State fan behind the UNC bench roll her eyes as Tyler came off the court for the last time and hug his team mates? We get a kick out of her everytime we replay the game.
O.K. I can’t not ask any longer, what is an “ABCers”?
ABC stands for Anybody But Carolina. It is comprised of mainly NCSU fans with some Duke guys mixed in. They are often characterized by such an extreme dislike of UNC that they are given to flights of fancy. I consider them lunatic fringe.

THF is correct in his assessment of “ABCers”. In fact the ABCer can look at this photograph and either claim it was photoshopped or that the guys were simply handed degrees.
The other aspect of the ABCer is that he absolutely would rather see UNC lose rather than it’s own team win on any given weekend (usually a State fan). As Woody Durham says, “They dislike the Heels more than they like themselves”.
Other chestnuts from the hardcore ABC’ers:
- The sports media in NC is biased because many of them graduated from UNC
- Carolina gets all the favorable calls in basketball
- Because of grade inflation it’s easy to graduate from UNC once you get in
- K is better than Dean Smith because he has 3 NCAA championships
- Butch Davis recruits thugs and criminals
- Roy is a great recruiter but not a great bench coach (even after 2 championships in 4 years!)
- UNC athletes are treated favorably by judges when they get into trouble
- UNC is filled with communists and homosexuals
I could go on and on…
And it goes to a whole other level when you talk Tyler Hansbrough:
-Fouls on every play
-Travels on every play
-Overrated
My Dad used to say that an ABCer would pull for the communists before they would pull for Carolina.

Actually, it is my understanding that some non-UNC fans openly pulled against the US in the 1976 Olympics because Dean Smith was the coach. I do not like Mike Krzyzewski but there was no way I was going openly hope for the US to lose in the Olympics.
I would never pull against the USA because of Dook involvement. But when it comes to Dook itself, I will pull for anybody else. A Dook loss is my 2nd favorite thing after a Tar Heel win. BTW I know a lot of Dook fans who fall into the ABC crowd. I always tell them that no UNC fan would ever want a Dook fan to pull for us because we don’t need you and we don’t want you!
It’s gonna be hard to find a UNC team that I liked as much as this 09 crew!

UNC players are babies who whine all the time.
UNC players have no concept of how to play basketball.
UNC players are full of themselves.
UNC players (wait for it) suck. (Oh, what a suprise! NOT!)

Got it. For some weird reason I thought it meant the announcers on ABC. They seems to have something out for us.
And I guess that makes me a ABDer. As for Coach Krcyzzruskrisky coaching our Olympians, I didn’t root for them to lose but on the other hand as much as I wanted to watch the team play I could not bring myself to it because of him.
Basically if Dook was playing a team made up of my ex wives (I only have one but If I could multiplier her) I would root for my ex wives.
Anyone with an Ex(and I’m not talking about the ex’s you hear about that have the nice after marriage relationship) now knows the disdain I have for Dook.
If you really want to think about it, K didn’t win the gold medal, it was the players who played for their country and wanted it for their country more than for themselves. A Dook fan told me, I can’t for this summer because you will be pulling for K and the basketball players. My statement was, “the players are the ones playing for our country while K is sitting on the bench trying to look like he knows what he is doing.” O’course, no comment from the Dook fan. He simply walked away shaking his head.
