It was easy for teams to shut down Marvin Austin last season because there was very little blitzing from the LB's and DB's; o-lines were able to double team him all day and hold the d-line at bay.
Maybe Withers thought that UNC didn't have the personnel to wreak havoc on opposing QB's by using constant blitzes, but after teams like UVa, Maryland, and even West Virginia dismantle the always prevent defense, Withers needs to find the guy that can get to the QB to free up Austin so he can get in the backfield like we know he can.
I agree with THF; if UNC can't dominate on defense and loses winnable games becaue of poor coaching on the defensive side, Withers should be unemployed. UNC is on the brink of contending for an ACC title, and anything less should result in walking papers.
BTW THF, how come no mention of Jesse Holley winning "4th and Long?"

I agree, and as I think I put in a previous post, there is NO reason our DE's, LB's and safeties for that matter should not be in the backfield of the opposition all season......

Interesting that the writer liked Duenta Williams instead of Burney. I can't argue with that at all. Marvin does need to step up this year.
