Heels are still being broadcast on 94.1 but that might be a stretch for anybody east of Burlington to get. I live outside of Elon and can barely get them.

Wilf,

Everything I've heard says that the HB announcement will be on the 12th and will be televised on ESPNU, which would make sense if he really is choosing between UNC and Duke, as neither plays on that day (UNC plays on the 11th; Duke plays on the 13th).

Rush will be there. 9 straight hours of conservative talk headlined by Rush. Includes Savage, too. WPTF is going moderate.

I think the Heels have been on 106.1 since they switched formats around '03, but I could be wrong. I would almost prefer 100.7 to get them back because, for some strange reason, I get better reception farther away with them.

They have not been on 106.1 that long. They were on 100.7 as late as 2005 maybe a little after that. Before they were on 94.7. I imagine they would keep it if they are going all talk. UNC basketball would be the highest ratings they would have assuming Rush Limbaugh does not end up there.

Nolan Smith suspended 2 games by the NCAA for being shady.

First 850 died an ugly, undignified death and now WRDU will switch to an all talk, ultra-conservative format. Not that I preferred the country format over the classic rock format, or the classic rock format over the original format from the 80's (mmmmmm, Kitty Kennan), but anything is better than talk radio that high on the FM dial. And how exactly will it affect the Heels. 106.1 has been their home for a long time, is that going to change?

I'm not that worried about the "new" "open" offense. It is really not that much different. A lot of offense will be points off fast breaks still. Roy simply has to come up with a solution to counter teams packing the zone on us. Without a great 3 point shooter he has a backup plan with a mid range game. It sounds like a hybrid of the Triangle offense to focus on the fact that we have some amazing athletes. People need to calm down. I don't think it is too far out of the Dean Smith play book. Bottom line I'm sure Roy knows what he is doing. It will definitely be a different team offensively this year.

I could see Graves being needed to provide some stability for 3 point shooting with the starters. I know Graves is not as good as Jawad Williams in 05 but this is not that much of a stretch from Roy not starting Marvin Williams for dept and to grow his confidence over the season. I'm sue this is what he is doing with Henson after all he is playing the 3 for the first time at the college level. As for Big Z, Sean May said this guy will be the most improved Tar Heel on his Twitter page. I think he will be the 6th man for this team like Ed was last year. He may start over Ed for some unknown reason in a few games but it will be Ed as a starter long term.

It is exciting to me that there is already a focus on defense. If UNC can play defense well from the start of the season, how they mesh and which offense they play will be less of an issue. Last year lots of games needed high offensive production to offset lax defense. If the team can lead by defense, who knows what could happen. One or two fast breaks, maybe a win or two. It will be interesting to see what happens.
