THF,I agree that the execution was not great, but part of that is play calling. Success in the red zone does not often come from third and long passing.

i think the last 3 wins are probably due to the mindset of the players after the FSU game, or the Va game. most of the players, anyway. i think the psychology of the team was different going to VT than it wouldve been if they were 6-1. so i'm not going to get too crazy believing they NOW couldve been 9-1 or 8-2.

I am talking about not executing well enough to get into the endzone or a first down after three attempts. It is like they get into the 25 yard line area and the offense stops.

As far as leaving points on the field in the red zone, some of that is explained by time and score. In the second half with a 13 point lead and then a touchdown lead, putting some points on the board is more important that the number of points. The last field goal is as effective (or very close) as a touchdown with 2 minutes to go because it forces Miami to score twice.

Give how the game ended, it is hard to fault the strategy. But the second touchdown interception was the game changer and kept the pressure off the offense.

This team is a mystery wrapped in an enigma inside a...........taco shell, or whatever it was. Where were these guys when we were being humiliated by a mediocre (or worse) Virginia team?

I guess I should be happy with what we've seen since then. They actually do have a top ten defense. The offense is the stuff of which ulcers are made, but that's the way it is this season.

Yes, we'll go to a bowl, but only because the concept of a "bowl" has been watered down beyond recognition. Wherever there's advertising money to be made, there will be a bowl. Gone are the days when an appearance in a bowl meant you were actually a powerful team. Hence the embarrassment of an invitation to the Microdot Tireiron Fashion Bowl, or whatever these things call themselves.

I'm happy, as we all are, to see such a welcome turnaround over these last three weeks. I hope it betokens better things for next season, and I suspect it does. Still, the taste of the Virginia "game" and the second half against FSU will take a long, long time to overcome.

UNC is 7-3, THF. Don't hang any extra Ls on 'em. They've done that enough already this season (i.e., UVa and FSU).

Nice post and excellent work by the Heels. We should certainly be ranked after dropping VT and Miami, especially since Houston lost as well this week which should make some room in the house.

Football games are not supposed be called like basketball games, you don't set the tone then let it happen until today. The line judge on the UNC side of the field didn't call anything the entire game. The block in the back call had to come from across the field even though it was 5 yards in front of the guy. I've just never seen a gamed called like that. I think there were at least three plays that should have been interference on Miami but it all worked out in the end. I look forward to reviewing the game on TWC.

I think the issues in the red zone are directly tied to a lack of confidence in TJ, rightfully so, and the compression of playing field. Less room to roam and more defenders per square yard. Simple process. Maybe lack of confidence is a bad choice of words, they want to keep him out of trouble and maintain his confidence as well as the teams. No reason to put him out there, regardless - he had zero picks, compared to Mr. Harris I think he did just fine.

I endured the State game last year and I look forward to State enduring our game in their house. Yes, tickets are available people and I'll there for sure.
