Assuming you can stop eating Christmas cookies long enough to watch the Heels eat theirs. This game is the first in a long line of snacks for the Heels as they get tuned up for ACC play. Having seen a few ACC games already it stands to be a wild season. Getting as many kinks out as possible now lays a nice foundation for the future. Also, it is nice to have that brutal stretch over with it so maybe now the Heels can get a handle on some vital areas. Or wail on a team because they can. Either one works for me.
Comments if you have them.

I had a flashback of the Kentucky play from last year on that dunk. This one ended much better.
sheesh. and Z is fouled on the snowbird. dont like it.
does Marshall coach want his 7 footer taking 3s?
I really want to punch some of those NBA players. I’m not scared, Tyler would protect me. But seriously, they’re just scared of him, they don’t want to have to play against him. They’re the ones who need to go play rugby.
Airbaaaaaaalllllll.
The more and more I see Strickland in the game, the more and more I like what I see. He’s very quick and is making better decisions. I think once he gets more comofrtable putting the ball on the floor and attacking the hoop he’s going to be a beast in that backcourt.
Claire, like I said, they need to grow a pair. I got a little ticked off at them when I read it.
It’s really funny how people talk crap when they’re scared. It’s not like we can tell what they’re doing or anything.
i dont care if Associate Head Coach Bobby Frasor has to prop Ole Roy up with sticks on the end of the bench when Roy’s 90…Ratface canNOT be allowed to have the coaching wins record.
Please, don’t let Ed Davis leave after the season!
HTTE, funny imagery, but I agree.
Agreed HTTE, if Rat gets that record, the Devil has truly won.
Marshall’s getting tired.
People cannot stay in front of Strick. He’s also shown a pretty reliable outside shot.
is Deon done for the day?
I think those who have doubted Marcus recently are biting their tongues.
Woah! Travis!
The freshmen definitely play better on the home floor.
HTTE, good question. Maybe he tweaked something.
HTTE, it might be some left over tendonitis. He played limited minutes against Texas, so that might be it.
If that’s the case it’s not too bad. The young guys need this experience more than he does.
well, the team seems fast without him, hate to say.
and there he is. *shrug*
I guess he’s okay.
Will Graves has a double-double. This is OUR Will Graves, right?
It’s actually his twin Bill Graves, who doesn’t have a scholarship, but is a playground legend.
Will, keep coming off the bench. It seems to be working.
My heart was just in my throat. That scared the living daylights out of me.
ok. bench Will every few games, minimum.
we need to pull up on breaks. nothing’s changed. big lead, meaningless basket, so i’ll just try and hurt you.
John Henson is a stringbean.
what was that? did LD2 just refuse to go out?
no, no, no. dribble to the middle, larry.
Maybe Roy listened to JBB and took away his Doritos
Anyone else thinking biscuits?
Hopefully not Will.
We want biscuits *clap clap clap clap clap*.
that’s right, CAHeel….some people need to have their brownies taken; others need to have their Cool Ranch Doritos taken.
ergo, Billy Graves has a career game.
you’re welcome, Roy.
From the view of the arena, people are leaving already. I made my dad kind of mad on Saturday when I refused to leave even 30 seconds early. There was no way I was leaving early when it was my first Tar Heel game in person.
On the flip side, Hopefully John is thinking extra biscuits. With gravy and and syrup on top of the sandwiches.
Roflmao, Marcus.
Watts always seems to contribute when he gets playing time.
good for you, girl. FIRST game? what was your dad thinking?
I politely told him that if my mom can’t get me to turn the tv off when they’re up 30, he’s insane if he thinks I’ll leave early when I’m there in person. Of course, we sat in the parking lot for 40 minutes afterwards.
I love Marc Campbell!
Hensen just tried to posterize someone. Spikes almost got Greg Paulus’d. Glad he’s okay though.
If that had gone in, that would be a Danny Green moment.
Ah, dang. No biscuits. Sorry for you North Carolinians.
He tried to get the biscuits with that last shot, which should win him a place in the hearts of all those in attendance.
Happy Holidays everyone! Go Heels!
Claire, don’t make me cry. I miss my baby.
Very impressive second half in all facets of the game.
Alex, you should go to a Bojangles and demand bicuits anyway! I think we deserve some!
Ditto, uncgirl50. Merry Xmas, everyone!
it really was.
the D was up a few notches. the TOs were down to 5 that half.
and if Will Graves goes 13 and 10 every game, you have another national title. just sayin.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year guys.
Everyone shall get a complete list of all Tar Heel items I received for Christmas this year. I’m sure you’ll be looking forward to that.
Wow, Claire. I’d have to go a long way to get a biscuit. Of course, I wouldn’t be complaining ’cause I’d be in Carolina and probably be able to see a game in the Dean Dome.
Alex, it would be worth it.
It definitely would. Oh, God. Calipari is on my computer screen! Get him off! Get him off!
Graves concentrated on securing the ball when he got it, passed the ball ahead and didn’t overhandle and he crashed the boards very effectively. He also didn’t have the lapses that have characterized his play. A lot of us have been down on him, myself included, and he earned his seat on the bench to start this game, but I have to give him a ton of credit for how well he played and not making the errors that have plagued his career.
Highlights:
UNC: 7-11 (64%) 3PT; 23-29 (79%) FT
LDII: 8 assists, 3 TOs
Will: 13/10
Ed: 19/10
Deon and Marcus: 14 each
Z: 18 points on 7-10 from the field.
C. Michael, don’t forget the defense in the second half either.
Easily their best game this season. All our areas of concern — ballhandling, defense, offensive rebounding — showed marked improvement.
Graves may have found his niche as Mr. Instant Offense off the bench, a la Danny Green two years ago.
I don’t see how you keep Zeller out of the starting lineup. He’s our best shooter, and ambidextrous. He still has a ways to go on defense, but is showing improvement. Admittedly I’m partial to frontcourt players from the Midwest named Tyler, but what can I say? I think Zeller has a big future, and it increasingly looks as if — as George Allen used to say — the future is now.
I also thought Ginyard played his best game of the year, and about time.
It’s hard to think of a negative. This is a great Christmas present for us. We got pretty well beat up by Texas, and we both put that behind us and learned from it.
Way to go guys.
Agreed. MU shot 11-40 from the field in the 2nd half. That kind of D will win a LOT of games for you.
This game leaves me wondering if our bigger problem is a habit of getting flustered on the road? Are we allowing hostile crowds to affect us?
i’m not concerned if Z starts or not. some guys are better off the bench, as was proved tonight.
we have ten guys that CAN all contribute. if it goes down to 8 or even just 9, who do you give the least minutes to?
Drew
Ginyard
Davis
Deon
Wear
Wear
Graves
Henson
Strickland
Zeller
thats without McDonald or Watts. its going to happen, Roy isnt going to play 12 guys, but, man, thats tough when they show what they have. Strickland was 1-5 but really had 2 if not 3 other shots that were GOOD shots, just did not go down.
you’d have to guess Graves, Henson and T Wear are the last 3…but look what Will did tonight.
