I don’t like Rick Barnes.
I place Rick Barnes just a rung below Duke on the dislike scale. So a win today would be almost like beating Duke.
Almost.
Comments if you have them.
GO HEELS!

Do we have to suffer through Dick Vitale today?
“Do we have to suffer through Dick Vitale today?”
Yes…
I don’t. Hehehe, sorry, I’m flaunting my ability to listen to Woody. Good luck!
^Ugh, feeling queasy, guess I’ll skip that lunch I was going to grab before the game.
Is anyone else confused about where ESPN is getting this, “UNC has lost 5 straight against top-5 teams,” garbage? Let’s look closer at this:
2009-10:
@UK (#4): Loss
2008-09:
@Wake (#4): Loss
@Duke (#5): Win
(Plus ‘Nova and MSU were ranked #4 and #2 respectively in the final poll)
2007-08:
@Duke (#5): Win
Duke (#2): Loss
(KU was ranked #1 in the final poll)
2006-07:
Ohio St. (#1): Win
Can anyone find 5-straight losses in there?
^^Take some Pepto Bismol and try to ignore it. I don’t know what else to tell you.
Hey! What’s with dissin’ the DV?! He’s a PT Player! My All-Windex glass cleaner! A Diaper Dandy! (OK, make that Depends). C’mon, Babeee! This is Big Time, Babeee! Where are the Cameron Crazies, Babee! Dook, Dook, Dook, Dook, Dook….Babeee!!!
There, that should cover it. For those not able to tune in.
I really don’t like that “burnt orange” color. It’s gross.
so…two coaches that declined a pregame interview with Tar Heel Sports.
Calipari.
Barnes.
i dont think anyone is surprised.
Uncgirl, there isn’t a cure or vaccine for the Vitale flu.
My hope for the game is a victory, and Dean Smith to come out of the stands and slap Rick Barnes upside the head.
I would love that too Marcus, but Dean Smith actually has CLASS.
True, uncgirl, but Rick Barnes has been asking for the better part of 20 years.
Looks like Dexter is going to go.
Hey, if Coach Smith won’t do it, I will.
Good rebounding so far.
Larry Drew II for a III! Sorry, that was really bad.
I don’t like the reffing already.
Avery Bradley is a black hole.
Woody just called Tyler Zeller, Z.
ha! play isnt over when a shot is blocked, fella.
Early on, at least, it appears Texas is about as good with outside shooting in a dome/stadium as Shammond Williams was in ’97 and ’98. Let’s hope that continues.
tight D there.
But that’s not a foul!
Wow! missed it by just a bit there.
Sounds like Texas fans are cheering as much as they did in Greensboro against Duke.
What foul? Oh, wait, that foul. Nevermind…
Hm, good job Z!
Karl Hess hasn’t possesed any of these ref’s bodies, has he?
I’m really like the way Dex is looking. I might have a #5 bias though.
Strick is playing very well right now.
I love the Wears.
Halfway through the first half and Texas is already in the bonus. How is that even possible?
Are they really revisiting the Presby thing? I thought everybody was over that?
THF, can you lock comments for Vitale?
i know Deon makes a lot of shots, but has Roy forbidden him to pass?
FREE.
^I think he and Avery Bradley are having a contest to see who can put up the most shots.
hate it for Will, but that one is gonna live on for quite a while
SOFT. Ugh. C’mon guys!
at least 3 3s given up with no one within a Tony Romo pass of them.
Hey y’all, I just posted this on IC, but I want to post it here too. Lillian Claire Chason died of H1N1 on Wednesday. Her parents are friends of my family. If y’all could please keep her family and friends in your prayers, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

once again…FREE.
which is part of how you go from up 35-33 to down 48-39.
Ginyard is starting to be more assertive. Situations like this he, Deon and Ed need to do that.
that was just brilliant.
Yuck
Deon, makes too many unforced errors for a senior who has played as many games as he has.
Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.
There’s this saying about not being able to make chicken salad…
is it too much to ask that they just eliminate the 3 to 4 most ridiculously dumb plays they make per half?
not plays you cant judge are the dumbest til you look at the film, but the ones obviously idiotic. like alley oops to Will Graves coming through traffic that lead to layups. like passing without looking.
can we possibly expect that pretty soon here?
What the deuce is Steve Lavin talking about? Texas’ depth wore us down? Has he not noticed that we played about 11 guys in the first half? Of all the things that Texas is doing to be ahead right now it’s not depth. His analysis makes Vitale sound insightful.
Note: Rick Barnes called a timeout in the final minute of the half and his team responded. Note to Roy: call a timeout sometime. Go H E E L S!
Gah! I’m with you on those mistakes. We’re a little far into the season to be making such sloppy mistakes. Did you hear that we flew in last night and didn’t get a chance to practice on the floor?
Anyhow, backwards hat time.
C’mon Heels.
21-6 finish to the half.
With a good talking to and a thrown trashcan or two, we’ll come back with a good attitude. We can handle this. Deon and Marcus need to step up and be good role models for the younger guys, both in the lockeroom and on the court. Let’s go Heels!
Wait, are these guys serious?
Did they just compare Texas to last year’s Tar Heels?
Kansas to last year’s?
Kansas hasn’t played anyone (and neither has Texas) while last year’s Heels clownstomped (to use the parlance of our times) Michigan State by 35.
These guys get paid for their analysis? I need to update my resume.
If you a senior leader, who is a three year starter, who’s been to the elite eight, two final fours and won a championship, you really shouldn’t be making a high school mistake and nonchalantly inbound the ball to the other team. You’ve got to be better than that.
After Lavin’s comments about Texas’ depth I hit the mute button and didn’t hear the rest of their “analysis.” If nothing else, I’m now convinced that Lavin is one of the worst commentators there is. No wonder he hasn’t gotten another coaching job. ADs realize he is a moron.
Dude, was that Will Graves?
Ginyard! That’s twice you tossed a weak floater. Then a lame run back down the court. Where’s that leadership? C’mon, man!
I hate to say this but Ginyard doesn’t need to play more than 10-15 minutes a game.
The refs are giving this one to Texas. There must be a conspiracy w/all the officials to call fouls against Carolina.
Dubya’s at the game. I’m used to blaming him for everything the last 8 years, I can still blame him for this
They call that a foul against Drew? We get mugged and that was great defense, whatever.
Who do you think should play instead of Ginyard?
Marcus is not being Marcus this game. It seems he is in a slump.
For as incredibly talented as we are, how do we find ourselves down double digits so often?
Ed should be touching the ball every time down. He’s shooting 7 for 8 and not putting up weak stuff.
Lets bring in someone fresh off the bench, Watts and McDonald.
We’re young and have played four teams in ranked in the top 15 and four of them have been ranked in the top 6 at some point in the season. that’s got something to do with it.
Davis isn’t getting any help on the defensive glass.
@Marcus – At this point, Ginyard is not going pro. His D is still good (not great like Fr. or So. years). His lack of offense negates what he brings to the table on D. His main contribution at this point is his experience and leadership which right now isn’t cutting it. I would rather give any of our young wing players time/experience with the exception of Watts. Strickland needs to be a full time starter.
Go Strickland, lets do that each time. Drive it!
Strickland’s looking like our best option right now.
As far as who to put in for Ginyard? I’d go with Henson. Sure Henson’s offense is suspect, but his defense isn’t, and he could use the time to mature.
Nothing against Marcus, this just isn’t his game today. he looks out of it.
Roy is finally listening, he brought in McDonald. Make me proud McDonald.
It sounds like you mean Macdonald is who you want to see. You may be right, but it’s a bit like the backup quarterback always being the most popular guy in town.
ugh. youre allowed to take more than 5 seconds off the clock before shooting.
I like Larry Drew. I think when Roy pulls him out it messes with his confidence. Larry Drew is the best option at point guard. Strickland is great also, but Drew II has more experience w/ACC play.
@Marcus – I agree. We fans can get a little jumpy at times like this. Roy’s won us 2 more titles in the past five years, he’s a much better judge than I am, haha.
But, that’s why we’re here, to vent our frustrations!
Maybe it’s just me, but why do Roy’s frosh seem so timid these past 2 years? Everyone one of them seem so scared to just “play ball”. I’m watching a ton of other hyped freshman for other programs play so confidently and assertively. It’s like they are scared of doing anything wrong in fear of being yanked
I think you answered your own question.
well thats my thought. asking for yours. if thats true – thats a problem
Emergency Coca-Cola time! We’re comng on back!
Man, I’d love to see us play like this for 40 minutes!
I wasn’t being flippant IronFist. I think you might be right.
^^which is why its so frustrating that they make not bad mistakes, but really awful silly mistakes.
does anyone think we’re playing at anything above 60% potential? i dont.
@steph – Drew had some early foul trouble. I think that’s why we’re seeing more of Dex in this game.
I honestly liked it when we were playing them together for a bit.
I’m not big on what these guys do in practice, but is there a drill to practice hand skills? We’re having severe issues handling the ball – keeping our hands on it, catching it, and taking it solidly to the hoop. I’ve never seen so many bobbles…
Potential doesn’t win games. If it did we would be undefeated.
Woah, something serious from me. That’s not normal at all…
for PETE’S SAKE, take a damn moment to calm down when you have the ball. what in the WORLD?
Apparently body checks are legal. I did not know that.
This team disgusts me. I know people will jump on me for saying that but this team has no fight. None. They are wimps and anytime they get within reach of fighting back they get knocked out. I know they are young but i feel like I’m watching Kris Lang play again.
Our offense is much more smooth without Thompson and Ginyard out there. I’m sorry, but they are not providing any senior leadership this year. Thompson’s field goal percentage is aweful and Ginyard is a nonfactor unless he is left wide open. And every one of our big men needs to craw to the broadcast booth on their hands and knees and beg Eric Montross to teach them how to box out. They look like a bunch of little kids trying to play against grown men.
That dude kicked the ball, that was not a turnover.
they couldve bailed Marcus out, or he couldve played under control. he is not a coast to coast ballhandling dribbler.
We don’t have anyone strong enough to handle James and Pittman. Those two are much stronger than anyone in our front court.
I was talking about that play and the screen on Drew. Marcus should have been more under control there, but there should be a call one way or the other, block or charge.
somebody wake me up in February
We have to start using the zone defense this year. Its the only way our guys will be in position to get some defensive rebounds. Plus, we just aren’t quick or strong enough to use man to man defense to stop big, physical teams.
Dickie V is making me sick.
Yeah UNC33, people will jump on you. Now, I don’t mean to be rude, but shut the hell up. These guys are not wimps. I will not accept that. Now if this team disgusts you so much, you don’t have to watch them. Get over it. These are college kids who, by the way, just took exams. Now, that combined with playing on a huge stage against a highly ranked team and everybody constantly doubting them and criticizing them, they might not be playing the way you want them to. Considering that this is not a life or death situation and you probably couldn’t do any better, I would suggest you be quiet. Ok? Now, I’m sorry for being so rude, but you are really pissing me off.
One thing that’s a big problem is that the 3 players who are guiltiest of turning the ball over are the three most experienced players. Deon, Will, and Ginyard don’t take good care of the ball at all.
wow he called a timeout.
Did Roy actually call a timeout? As #50 would say, WOW!
