I agree. I like to think that we’ve moved far enough from Dook that our level of competition is Kansas and Kentucky.

Having said that, I can’t just turn the other cheek to Dook…not just yet. I still can’t let go of how incredibly vile and contemptuous the actions were of the “Dook fans” of the late 90s, early 00s. From the internet, to Hansbrough Indoor, and beyond, the fans relished in the fact that the UNC program was caught in the whirlwind and they were taking us behind the woodshed. Coach Kay’s teams brutalized UNC squads that were coached by Bill Guthridge and Matt Doherty…NOT Dean Smith and Roy Williams. We’re not quite at the point where we are laying 25-point smackdowns on the Blue Devils, but that level of separation won’t happen until Kay steps down.

clemson chokes, what’s new. the only problem i have with this tweet is that marcus is accepting that unc vs duke is a rivalry. i’d prefer that we just blow them out every game and diminish them to insignificance.

yeah. i couldn’t care for the acc winning it again. as long as we take care of business, we’ll be fine, even if acc is viewed as weaker.

the ppg thing is interesting. i have a thought. krat is content continuing to play the plumbros to entice the better/youngest/third plumbro to commit to dook. ryan kelly is actually a decent player caught in a bad situation. plus the zoobs is going to get no mins soon, and the lineup will shrink to 7. AND krat is going to try to run more. what a disaster! those kids will get fatigued by january no matter how hole-ly the back of their jerseys are.

Of course I wanted to see the ACC win, but if it’s at the expense of a Dook loss, then screw the challenge. The ACC is 10-1; if that’s not a dominant conference, then show me something that is.
In terms of rooting for Dook, I feel I could only do so if they were playing the Taliban, but give K’s penchant for avoiding tough opponents, I think I’m okay there.
Commenting on the game, I thought this was supposed to be a much more atheletic and quicker Duke team? They got schooled by a team that plays slow on offense and has no interest in scoring over 60 points. The athleticism really showed there…..

Forgive me if I don’t cry a river here. To me, this “challenge” doesn’t change anything. Look at the top two teams in each conference. Who won that game? Mmm-hmm. Dook are not the 5th best team in the country. ESPN be damned. It usually takes much longer into the season for the Blue Devils predictable weaknesses to surface.
I love the fact that all ACC fans can say, “Nice Dook…way to eff this one up for the conference.” That HAS to hurt Coach Kay.

The whole notion of a challenge is a bit stupid to begin with. It is not as though they make much of an attempt to seed the games or locate them scientifically. They basically try to pit a couple of big market teams at the top and I am not sure what they do after that.

I wonder if there are gambling parlays on the Big Eleven-ACC challenge because that seems to be pretty much the only significance of a 6-5 outcome and I am saying that knowing the ACC has won most years, even in 2005 when the Big Ten had two Final Four teams. It is even more of a farce than that thing the media does every year where they deride a conference because some of its teams go out early in the NCAA play-offs.
