Who knows what effect 30 inches of snow will have on the Terps or the Tar Heels? Â I am approaching this with the Forrest Gump philosophy and we’ll deal with whatever we get on the floor today. Â Maybe the out-of-sync nature of the snow will benefit the team who is already out-of-sync and hurt the one playing well. Â Who knows?

Henson has to get more PT. It doesn’t matter what he does in practice he has to get more PT in the games. He’s the only one who aggressively takes it to the goal.

actually, cb74, Vasquez and Scheyer are both 6’5″, 6’6″; Smith is several inches shorter. but I agree with the substance of your point. (actually, I think Scheyer doesn’t guard Vasquez because playing 37 minutes a game K tries to protect him from tough defensive assignments)

Sigh… the Seniors FINALLY show up and what happens? The Sophomores don’t show up… It took LD II 90 seconds to ERASE nine minutes of hard work by his teammates in the second half, and Ed Davis is weak. Just plain weak.
Davis has 11 rebs but his offense is well…sucky

Roy needs to recruit another PG pronto – I don’t even want LD II to be our backup next year. He can’t play defense, he can’t finish at the basket, he can’t shoot, he turns the ball over WAY too much (and usually in bunches)… He is, at best, a third string PG in this league.
Ed’s defense is also sucky. he can block shots, but he doesn’t play good D on his man.
the guy who made the point about fouls is on to something, I think. we NEVER foul shooters hard; we rarely foul them at all. I think it’s part of our lack of agressiveness.

What’s incredible is that we horded fouls and TOs. End of the game and the Terps were yet to shoot 1 on 1. What’s the use of a deep bench if the coach is unwilling to play tough?? Really poor coaching!!

Does the coach play on the floor? Stop whining about Roy’s coaching and face the facts…this team is awful and if John Wooden were coaching they would still be awful. They can’t execute a game plan. Roy recruited them so ultimately it’s his fault he put together such an awful team but the players have to play!

Well I’d like to thank Time Warner cable for sparing me the last 1:21 of the game, I can only imagine just how bad it was though I’d prefer not. That was pretty painful, just being so close, getting some edge and then collapsing at the close. Live it up MD, we’ll be back.

With 1:32 were down 22, Gary puts his scrubs in and what does Roy do? Subs in Mcdonald, one of the Wears and Strick. How much more of this crap can we take?
There were clearly some issues on the floor but this isn’t a lack of talent. Maybe team play and probably some coaching issues as well, you could point to less that strong play in certain areas but I don’t think there’s an indictment on the whole group and certainly not Roy to the extent that I’m reading presently. It was bad, ugly and painful but when they kids look good next year what do you say, where do you go? Just don’t paint yourself into a corner.
I know. But for them to play better next year will require a new PG and tougher front line play. Makes me worry about next year.
We just don’t have the horses, plain and simple. Go figure that one. 2 NCAA championships in five years and we don’t have premiere scholarship players? Young or not, these kids are supposed to be highly competitive at this level, especially this deep into the season. Is it coaching? Hard to imagine, but must be considered… even with a hall of fame coach.
The worst thing about this season is that Carolina is no longer the top program in college basketball. That title will probably go back to Kentucky. We had elevated above Kentucky before the season. With Calipari winning 30 games every year and recruiting the way he does UNC might not be able to catch up, and if Kansas wins the championship this year we might drop to 3. Don’t know why being #1 is so important to me but it is.

Dook has an easy route to the 1 seed. Maryland has some tough games but they arent below a 3.

Look no team should allow uncontested lay-ups, even if it means getting called for an intentional foul so be it. Have any of guys watched the Nova-Georgetown game? Nova never ever lets the opposing team have uncontested lay-ups. Even if it means committing a late foul they do that. Sometimes it is good to use those fouls. If not for anything but the intimidation factor. We let a competitive ball game slip away into a huge loss. Next up will be Duke and guess how they use their bigs who are not really scorers? For fouling!! Duke will use the 25 fouls that their bigs provide but they will never allow an uncontested lay-up or dunk. This team, or the matter this coach just does not have that mentality. Till we can get that we will remain a poor team. We have the talent, we just don’t have the fire.

This team is so awful defensively and too inconsistent offensively to be even classified as BAD.
Maybe it was a bad idea to let LD2 build a snowman before the game because it sure looked like the frost bite on his fingers effected his play.
