Go Miami?
Actually a NCSU-Duke final would be pretty darn interesting, especially if NC State won. However, Duke struggling and losing to the last place team in the ACC would be satisfying enough. Nightmare scenario for the ACC? GT-Miami final. No one is going to show up for that one.
#1 Duke vs #12 Miami, 1:30 PM
#7 Georgia Tech vs #11 NC State, 4:00 PM

Mrs K always classy, booing during the technical FTs.
and did i see a grandkid or something crying in anger behind him?
K, dude. Leadership?
the kid was like 10ish years old. maybe a nephew or friend. sitting next to Mrs K, and having to be comforted by his mother. too funny.
Ratface must be worried. he RARELY takes the jacket off.
^ it also looked like she had some choice words for the officials.
Wouldn’t you be scared to sit next to her if you were a young kid?
^he wasnt scared of her. he was highly pissed that the ref called a T on Uncle K. at 10 years old or something. totally redfaced pissed.
***
lets see if Miami has learned what 98% of other teams that face dook seem to overlook…that you have to come out 3x as intense to start the 2nd half.
****
60 seconds in, and that answer is NO. guard Singler? why would we do that? take smart shots? nonsense.
its like teams have never seen this team before.
^To late to have some conch shells delivered to the arena?
3 fouls on Lance Thomas, senior, in one defensive possession.
if that isnt 1st team all defense, i dont know what is. *eyeroll*
hope he can make that degree in Pottery work out.
FYI, apparently Henson, McDonald, and Marshall are all at the Kinston game to watch Reggie. Nice to see…
dook only called for 5 fouls in 18 1/2 minutes. truly shocking.
and 3 were by the dope Thomas in a minute.
you lost by 3, Miami. imagine if you’d played 40 minutes. imagine if youd not given up 2 open 3s to Singler in the first minute of the 2nd. imagine if you hadnt played like dummies for 5 minutes in the middle of the half.
^^ the leader of next year’s team is starting to emerge, and his name is John Henson.
Couple of things:
1. Kinston won the NC State Title today. Bullock also scored his 2000th career point. Marshall, Henson, Strickland, Drew and Davis were all there (via Twitter, not sure who else).
2. Purdue hit a shot at the buzzer to score their 10th and 11th points of the HALF! They are down 37-11. I know they lost Hummel, but come on!!
Just got back from the Kinston game, which it won going away. I left with a minute or so to go, but the lead was 22 or 23, at that point, and in the bag.
I’m sure others will comment later, but Reggie looks like a terrific prospect to me. His shooting stats won’t be impressive, if you just look at the box score, because he kept his teammates involved and was very unselfish with the ball.
He was a little off in the first half with his outside shot, but hustled on the boards and got some putbacks. In the second half he nailed 2 consecutive threes with a very pretty stroke, mechanically very sound, and had a nice drive to the basket for a 2 and 1. He also rebounded well, from the outside spot, and had at least one block that I remember.
He’s the full package. Length, athleticism, quickness, ball-handling, plays under control, even defense – What?- yes, good footwork and hustle on D. He may be a bit slower than Dexter (although he runs the court very well to my eyes) but he’s going to be a load at the SG position at 6-6.
Being in Reynolds was so retro, and so much fun, and the experience was made even better by some great folks from Kinston, next to whom I sat. They had this running commentary about how great Reggie was, and I asked one of them how he would characterize Reggie’s play in one short description. His response:
“He can score a bunch of points in a heartbeat” That was music to my ears.
^No kidding.
UNC will have the ability to put some REALLY tall/long lineups on the court next year. It will be interesting to see how tall UNC measures them, but I’ve seen Bullock listed as tall as 6’7″ and Barnes as tall as 6’8″ (the article about him winning the NPOY had him at 6’9″, but I’m assuming that is a typo.) A lineup with Marshall, Bullock, Barnes, Henson, and Zeller would be: 6’4, 6’7, 6’8″, 6’10″, 7’0″ (average: 6’8″). Nothing better than tall/long athletes on the wing to help with 3-pt defense…
Roy was at the game in a nice yellow sweater. Saw Henson in the hallway as well. It was a good game and Bullock has a very nice touch. He follows his shots, was good around the basket and handles the ball well. Based on the one game I saw today I wouldn’t think he’s a point guard. He really looked and played like Wayne today which is a good thing in my mind.
Reynolds was interesting and so was the parking situation following the game. Yay, NCSU doesn’t need any traffic management at all, people will leave eventually, one way or another.
“Based on the one game I saw today I wouldn’t think he’s a point guard.”
And you’d be right. Bullock is a shooting guard.

Something’s up or these guys just want to screw with an already mentally jacknifed fan base.
I LOVE that the guys showed up and supported Reggie Bullock. That is the most pleasing piece of information that I have read on here since…
DF,
Ed just announced his decision: Cheesecake Factory.
Terrible choice, IMO. Just terrible…
(And I agree that the current Heels rooting on Bullock is a good sign.)
Thanks to those of you who were at the game and filed the reports. I know some of you think I’m too “negative.” Actually, I just call it as I see it. When, as in today’s game, what I see is multiple, glowing reports on one of our incoming players, I’m thrilled. Our team could use some real live, non-silver lining type good news, and that is what you’re providing. Thanks!
http://highschool.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1061306 <—–Great article about Barnes. Can't wait to see him in Carolina blue.
We all have to keep in mind that Reggie’s a high school player who will have to adapt to a much harder college game. That said, he certainly looks to have the physical tools, and a certain maturity in his approach to the game. Only time will tell what intangibles he has to offer, or even discovers about himself.
Deep thoughts after one game – Bullock, looks good on defense but can’t hold a much smaller guard out front. Still he was in the right place at the right time.
Good hands on defense and was quick to the ball. He never overplayed the competition which was nice since those are the breakdowns that cost you the most.
Followed his shots, really soft shot on the backboard with nice control. I couldn’t be happier with this since we just toss the ball up so frequently. He was also good for the tip in.
His three was pretty when it went up but he wasn’t consistent.
He spent a lot of time talking to the coach and was watching him at all times. I would say he’s the leader of the team and does his best to communicate what the coach wants to the team. There is no coloring or tinting on this, if you were there you saw it.
He was good under the basket and made quite a few rebounds but the opposing team did almost as well and they were quite a bit smaller than Kinston. Playing 2A ball is something of a concern since his competition would be less intimidating than a 4A team but he has the skills to be sure.
Stackhouse’s nephew is on the team, number 2 and he seemed decent for someone in 9th grade. The crowd from Kinston had a high opinion of his skill and potential.
This is not UNC related but state of NC related: Patrick Pinkney the former starting QB for ECU was having dinner here in the Ville tonight. He is working out w/the Panthers and some other NFL teams. He is a great kid and I hope he does get drafted.
^^ After seeing Bullock in person, does he have a chance to be a big contributor next year?, starter minutes? better that Dex?, just asking for your perspectives of how he can affected are season next year, after seeing him live
I am excited for the high school tourneys, to see Marshall and Barnes
Depending on how Bullock looks in practice, we may see a scenerio in which Roy auditions Drew II (if he is still around), Marshall, and/or Strickland at the point.
If Bullock brings the tenacity on both ends, he might start at the two…at this point, it seems pretty clear that all positions, save wherever Henson is playing, are up for grabs.
Speaking of which, if Ed Davis is having fun with the whole notion of coming back…it seems as though the transparency might indicate that he is leaning towards a return. Why? From what I have witnessed, players who decide to declare early become invisible for days, fall off the map, and then re-emerge to announce they are leaving.
IF Ed comes back, here is our lineup:
PG: Drew II, Marshall, Strickland
SG: Strickland, Bullock, Watts
SF: Barnes, Graves, McDonald
PF: Henson, Wears, Davis
C: Davis, Zeller, Wears (?)
OR
PG: Drew II, Marshall, Strickland
SG: Strickland, Bullock, Watts
SF: Barnes, Graves, McDonald
PF: Henson, Wears
C: Zeller, Wears
I know you weren’t addressing me, makeit, but I thought I’d throw in my 2 cents.
I was thinking about whether I wanted to say anything about how Reggie might be as a Tar Heel, and decided, 1) It’s really too difficult to tell yet and 2) The lessons learned from last year make me less hesitant to project too much for any recruit except maybe Harrison Barnes.
I can’t speak for others, but to me Reggie looks good. I don’t think he is as fast as Dexter but he covers ground quickly with fairly big strides, he’s 3 or 4 inches taller, seems to handle the ball equally well, and has a better outside shot. Good athlete and rebounder too. So from that point of view he looks like he has more to offer and could start over Dexter.
But -
This was only one game, and against 2A, in-state players (like BBLB said), not D1 college players, or even elite HS players. Who knows how quickly he will catch on to Roy’s system, or what other intangibles he’ll bring.
So that’s my humble take. Great prospect. Too early to tell about next years impact.
I would also like to see Bad Bad Leroy Brown weigh in.
