I will stress this is from UNC player Twitter feeds and for all I know they could be screwing around. However, given some other things I have heard, this is probably legitimate:
First up John Henson:
@ldrew2 they say @eddavis32 announcing his return this week…
Next Larry Drew:
RT @johnhenson31 @ldrew2 they say @eddavis32 announcing his return this week… <— yuuup, i think friday after his meeting w/ **THE MAN**
The standard “nothing is concrete until you hear it from UNC” disclaimer is in play. What we do know is Ed Davis’ wrist has not healed as quickly as they had hoped and he went back into the cast. That obviously creates a significant delay which Davis likely cannot overcome to be ready for the NBA Draft process. Not to mention the deadline for withdrawal is now May 8th and there is little chance Davis can know by then whether he will be able to effectively workout by the end of May. Based on that alone, the odds are that he stays.
For all the old hands here at THF who have endured many a draft watch, you know the drill. Trust nothing unless it comes from the horse’s mouth.

These kids could be messing with us
Let’s see UNC lineup for next year if this is right:
F-Ed Davis Jr.
F-Tyler Zeller Jr.
G/F-Harrison Barnes Fr.
G-Reggie Bullock Fr.
G-Larry Drew II Jr.
bench
F-John Henson So.
G-Kendall Marshall Fr.
F/G-Will Graves Sr.
G-Dexter Strickland So.
G-Leslie McDonald So.
F-Travis Wear So.
F-David Wear So.
This looks very good.
I think this compares very well to what Duke has.
even an Ed Davis that doesnt improve any from this year or last is still a very welcome addition to the team.

Purnell getting a 7 year deal at “well beyond” his $1.6 mil @ Clemson.
this is a guy who has never won an NCAAT game.

Cornell coach to BC?
***
and West Virginia is #3 in the last poll? wow. third best team, huh? hm.
because they made the semis? Northern Iowa beat Kansas, so why are they ranked behind them if its all about the tourney?
I think Donahue to BC is a sure thing. The players are all saying it, and the Cornell AD has already started a search for his successor. I’m not gonna lie, that makes me kind of heartbroken, but I understand.
Well, expect a lot of 3 point shooting from BC in the near future! The Cornell team from this year was kind of a fluky recruiting class, so I don’t know how well or who he normally tries to recruit, especially at the ACC level where he’s never worked. He’s always been Ivy, so I don’t know if he has any recruiting acumen really.
^article said Cornell is losing 9 seniors, BR. thats brutal!
Not believing until I here it from UNC or Davis’s mouth, but if true D Wear should redshirt.
^you got that right. and Watts should…well, i dunno.
12 guys that can potentially contribute? thats about 3 too many once you get to February/March.
Yup, very ununsual situation there this season. Cornell doesn’t really recruit for b-ball, it just kind of fell into place. I see a long, dry spell in Ivy success even if we get Izzy or Fortier.
In related news, I didn’t know Steve Robinson was a Cornell assistant on the previous generation Ivy champ team.

^Scratch that..it is not Yates..it is Leifheit.
I told you so…
What are the chances that Al Skinner is the new coach at Clemson?
A Heel fan asked me today if I’d heard anything about a mass exodus from UNC, mentioning specifically the Wear twins. Just passing along the question.
…and you said?
Highly doubtful. Chicken Littles indeed.
My hubby said he heard today that the Wears were going to Texas and Strickland is leaving also. (I don’t think Strickland is leaving, just read his tweets and he’s tweeting about us winning next year)
April 6th, 2009 “We are looking GOOD, on paper.” Give me some all-American hussle and intensity.
I would not like it if the Wears left. They seem like the kind of kids that you want to captain a team their senior year.
I have nothing on the Wears.
Strickland appears to be close to Henson and based on his tweets is ready to play next season. He will be fine.
There is speculation coming from IC that matches what I posted above that the setback with Davis’ wrist may keep him in Chapel Hill next season.
I do not want anyone to transfer/leave at all. I love all of them. If what my hubby heard is true about the Wear’s to Texas of all places with that creep Barnes that would be the ultimate slap in the face to us Heels.
Davis’ wrist injury certainly throws at least a curve at the decision process. Speaking of Davis’ wrist injury, which “incredibly” happened during the Duke game at CH.
Did anyone notice how many key players to opposing teams were hurt while playing Duke? Ed Davis, the WVA point guard was nearly knocked unconcious and the knee injury to WVA’s Butler happened while being undercut by Zoubek. Lance Thomas almost managed to take out Butler’s Haywood.
Duke’s storied history includes the Laettner stomp, the goon play on Chris Paul and the Gerald Henderson elbow. Who is the common thread in all these incidents?
^Dirty coaching. Zoubek’s screen tactics and the hand checks are just the tip of the iceberg with what those players are taught.
^^which is exactly why I’m all for bringing back the “hatchet man”, if for none other than the Duke & FSU games. Somebody has to hold the refs accountable–maybe there is some use for the Wear twins after all.
seriously, our guys need to learn how to successfully counter that type of play without drawing the refs attention. A well placed elbow to the chin, adams apple or gut, or a knee to the thigh (with corresponding apology) will get the message across to the other team that you won’t put up with that s***. If you watched the Butler sub guard who hit that long 3, he immediately came in and played the way the refs were allowing–he literally started grabbing Scheyer—it was effective & he didn’t get called for it.
THF,
Is there any possibility that John Shoop will be canned anytime soon?
