Wears Opt for UCLA

Worst. Kept. Secret. Ever.

I am guessing they wanted to see how “Lost” and “24″ turned out before making it official.

We can officially close the book on David and Travis Wear who will get to eat homemade macaroni and cheese while being role contributors in Ben Howland’s “offense.”

Here’s the deal. I have built [...]

Sunday’s News & Notes

Scouring the interwebs to bring you news on the Tar Heel front…

**The UNC baseball team needed to win out against #12 Virginia Tech and still needed some help to even make the ACC baseball tournament in Greensboro, as only the top 8 teams get to participate. The Heels did their part, earning a three-game [...]

LAX-tra: #6 UVA women @ #3 UNC; #5 Duke men vs. #4 UNC [UPDATED]

The NCAA lacrosse playoffs continue this weekend with Final Four berths on the line for both the Carolina men and women. That the Heels are competing this weekend to advance to the national semifinals is not unusual, given that the men are four-time national champs and the women played in the national title game last [...]

Knox: UNC or Georgia Tech

I am with Doc on this one. It seems like a no brainer with the caveat being Justin Knox has a one year old child who is living with his girlfriend in Alabama so distance from them might be an issue. The other side of the equation is in this quote from Knox:

“There was [...]

Four UNC Football Players Named Preseason All-American

By Phil Steele who many people consider to be a fairly smart guy on this kind of stuff.  The four Tar Heels in question, who I think should be referred to as the Four Horsemen Of Ending Your QB’s Career, are: Marvin Austin, Robert Quinn, Bruce Carter(1st team) and Quan Sturdivant(2nd team). Take note that [...]

Via Inside Carolina:

After the visit, North Carolina has emerged as the leader for Knox’s services over Georgia Tech, South Alabama, Georgia State and Southern Miss. The Tuscaloosa, Ala. native has confirmed scholarship offers from all five schools.

ESPN, ACC Reach TV Deal

With all the rumblings concerning expansion of other conferences and how it might affect the ACC, this was important for John Swofford to get done:

ESPN won the TV rights to ACC football and basketball in a bidding competition with Fox Sports that was surprisingly close, industry sources say, and as a result made the [...]
