UNC Ranked 17th in Preseason Baseball America Poll

USA TODAY Sports

Baseball America has released its preseason poll for the upcoming 2014 season. The Tar Heels check in at 17th and is one of six ACC teams ranked. Virginia will begin the season ranked #1 followed by #5 NC State, #6 Florida State, #13 Clemson, #16 Miami.

UNC will be in the midst of a "rebuilding" season after losing multiple key contributors from a team that went to the College World Series. That doesn't mean the cupboard is bare by any stretch of the imagination. Mike Fox's team still retains plenty of talent with more coming in with the current freshman class. However there will be some growing pains as it all gets sorted out.

In addition to being ranked 17th in Baseball America, UNC has been picked to finish second in the Coastal Division by the league coaches. Virginia was selected to win both the division and the overall league title. FSU was picked to win the Atlantic Division just ahead of NC State.

UNC opens regular season play on February 14th with the first of sixteen straight games at home.
