Weekend Open Thread

The men’s and women’s lacrosse team both open NCAA Tournament today hosting games in Chapel Hill.

The women take on Navy at noon while the men will play Denver at 7:30 PM. That men’s game will be televised on ESPNU.

In baseball, the Heels will go for the series win vs Duke after Kent Emanuel got the best of Blue Devil pitcher Marcus Stroman 2-1. Michael Morin recorded his 15th save.

The #1 seeded softball team lost to #4 Virginia Tech in the ACC semifinals on Friday.

In the NBA playoffs, Ty Lawson and the Denver Nuggets will face the LA Lakers in Game 7 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.

Ty Lawson Was Pretty Doggone Good Against The Lakers Last Night

In case you forgot(and I’m sure Duke and LSU would like to) when Ty Lawson gets it rolling, he pretty much takes the game over.

Talking UNC Players in the NBA Draft with Hornets247.com

I had the opportunity to join Michael McNamara and Ryan Schwan over at Hornets247.com for their podcast. You can listen to the podcast here. Skip to around the 43:00 mark for my portion where we discuss at length the four Tar Heels heading into the NBA Draft. The New Orleans Hornets have two top ten picks this year and various mock drafts have them taking at least one Tar Heel, especially with the 10th pick which is the range Kendall Marshall, John Henson and Tyler Zeller all appear to be hovering.

So if you want to hear me ramble incessantly for like thirty minutes head on over there and give them a listen.

Weekend Open Thread

Variety of things going on this weekend most of them non-UNC related. The Diamond Heels whipped Boston College on Friday night 15-1 and will play two more versus the Eagles this weekend if you happen to be in Chapel Hill.

Several former Heels will be in action in the NBA Playoffs and something was tweeted at me about Dexter Strickland being at the Boston-Atlanta game with Callie Rivers in a game pitting Doc Rivers vs Larry Drew, Sr and Marvin Williams playing for the latter.

Weird.
