Do you think the powers that be in Bristol, CT are on suicide watch? I am sure when the scheduled this game they thought they would be getting a pair of 3-2 or 3-3 teams who also happen to be nominal rivals. Instead they get to very bad football teams who are desperate for a win which could have an entertainment value all in it's own. They are also getting a game with two coaches, one of which is not well like but safe in his job for now(Al Groh) and John Bunting who has been thrown under the bus. Also, UNC has not won in Charlottesville since 1981. Of course this is also the 10th anniversery of what has been dubbed the "Almost Fiesta Bowl" game where UNC was leading 17-3 in the fourth quarter sitting in the red zone when Chris Keldorf threw an interception which was returned 95 yards for a TD and sparked a 20-17 comeback win for the Cavs. Chances are we will hear all about that one tonight from ESPN.

UNC's defense, which was one of the worst nationally, lost linebacker Larry Edwards to a broken collarbone. Edwards was one of the few defenders worth a grain of salt this season and now we get more youth and inexperience on the field. Virginia seems to fairly stiff defensively and since the UNC offense is not really that good I would expect Virginia to win this one by a slighly comfortable margin.

Since this is a Thrusday night game and I have the time I will be live blogging beginning at 7:30. Gratuitous John Bunting abuse is implied.
