ACC Football Week #11: Preview

#19 Georgia Tech at UNC, 12:00 PM, Raycom/LF

Everyone will be buzzing about Butch Davis. Another emotional games for the Heels as it pertains to John Bunting. GT is more than capable of handling it.

Georgia Tech 28 UNC 17

NC State at Clemson, 12:00 PM, Raycom/LF

Clemson has lost two straight and Tommy Bowden is on the verge of having a full blown fan rebellion on his hands. This is a must win for Clemson, not in the playoff/standings sort of way but in terms of setting the season right. This is also a must win for NC State who needs to win the last three to get to bowl eligibility. I just have to believe Clemson shows up ready to play this one.

Clemson 31 NC State 14

Miami at #23 Maryland, 3:30 PM, ABC

Atlantic division implications for Maryland. For Miami is the resumption of play after the tragic death of teammate Bryan Prata earlier in the week. Miami also comes in playing with their second string QB, Kirby Freeman and also missing a pair of starters on defense due to injury. Miami will come in with high emotions which can always for you in raising the level of play but also work against you if it is unfocused. So I expect Miami to come out very hype up and it will become an issue of Maryland weathering the storm and Miami sustaining the energy level. Maryland is playing with confidence but also need to deal with potential letdown from last week's big win at Clemson.

Maryland 21 Miami 14

Kent State at #20 Virginia Tech, 3:30 PM

Kent State lost at Buffalo who lost 41-0 to Boston College who beat Virginia Tech. Nice late season cupcake for the Hokies.

Virginia Tech 38 Kent State 6

Duke at #22 Boston College, 7:00 PM

I cannot see this being anything other than a huge BC win. The Eagles are still viable for the Atlantic title but they need help and they must keep winning. This one should not be a problem.

Boston College 41 Duke 10

#18 Wake Forest at Florida State, 8:00 PM, ABC

Ah, ABC primetime coverage for Wake? Someone is getting some respect now. As far as Wake is concerned they can afford to lose one game as long as the beat Maryland on Nov. 25th. The problem is they have Virginia Tech next week and that is a far more dangerous game than this one, even though this one is on the road. So I am going to employ some ironclad logic here. I am 1-3 when picking Wake Forest to lose a game(the Clemson game being my only correct pick) so I am done doubting the Deacs. I say Wake wins in Tallahassee which means they will probably lose now.

Wake Forest 24 FSU 21

Last Week: 4-3
This Season: 55-20
