Probably the toughest opponent UNC has faced all tournament. The Owls are seeded one spot ahead and are traditionally a very good baseball team winning the title in 2003. According to the N&O Rice has been hot over the past 29 games going 28-1 and currently own an eight game winning streak. Here are the probable starters from the N&O:
NORTH CAROLINA
ALEX WHITE, FRESHMAN, RHP, 6-5, 4.22
White, UNC's first freshman weekend starter since 2004, has struggled in his first NCAA postseason with a 12.96 ERA in 8 1/3 innings. In two NCAA starts, he has allowed 14 hits and four walks and has struck out three.
RICE
JOE SAVERY, JUNIOR, LHP, 10-1, 2.78
Savery, who also has started 49 games at first base this season, is 1-0 in the NCAA postseason, giving up six hits and a walk in seven innings pitched. He was drafted 19th overall by the Phillies earlier this month.
