Cue The Bee Gees "Stayin' Alive"
UNC turned in another masterful pitching performance and got six runs from the offense to avoid elimination. Now the Heels faceoff with Rice for a second time tomorrow and this time both teams are facing the trip home if they lose. Robert Woodard pitched an incredible game shutting down the Owls for six innings before giving up a run in the seventh before allowing Rob Wooten and Andrew Carnigan to finish the game.
Two significant things struck me about this game. The first was the cool Rice bats which had been smoking in the first two games of the CWS. The second was the continuation of great pitching and defense as UNC gave up only one run for the second straight game. UNC will need both tomorrow if they want to advance to the title series. Oregon State(at the time of this writing) is leading UC-Irvine late in their game which means should UNC win it will mean a rematch with the Beavers of last season's title series which UNC lost in three games.
