CAROLINA 9 SCAR 4
Chad Flack is the freaking man. And so is Andrew Carignan for that matter. Flack broke open a 4-4 game in the sixth with a two run homer in a repeat of last season when Flack homered to beat Alabama in the Super Regional. Carignan, the closer, entered the game following the Flack blast and pitched four shutout innings(his longest outing of the season) to eliminate the Gamecocks from the NCAA Tournament.
This will be UNC's second straight trip to Omaha. The Heels were in the decisive game of the national championship series last season when an error did the Heels in against Oregon State. This season UNC enters the College World Series as the #3 seed overall and joins #2 Rice and #5 Arizona State as the only other seeded teams among the eight CWS contenders.
The Heels will face Mississipi State in their first game in Omaha. The CWS schedule has yet to be released.
