NCAA Regional: UNC 11 ECU 10

UNC rallied from down 10-8 in the ninth to remain undefeated in the regional at Chapel Hill and one win away from hosting the Super Regional next week. A game which had huge swings back and forth found the Heels down heading into the bottom of the ninth where they benefited from some shaky pitching from ECU's Shane Matthews who walked two and following a sacrifice bunt gave up a run on a wild pitch then surrendered three straight singles to tie and lose the game.

UNC now awaits the winner of the ECU-WCU elimination game. Western Carolina sent Jacksonville home scoreless winning 7-0. If the Heels win Sunday at 5 PM then they move on to host the Super Regional. Should they lose tomorrow they would rematch on Monday to decide the regional champion.

The Columbia Regional, which is on the same line in the bracket as this one was rained out today. Based on the rain we are getting Raleigh, that could jeopardize the games tomorrow.
