- Deon Thompson had a rather lackluster performance in a 103-77 win over China at the World Championships. Thompson did not score missing all five FG attempts, had just three rebounds, two blocks, three steals and one assist in 18 minutes.
- In the Pan American team trials, Wayne Ellington was featured by the Philladelphia Inquirer in this article. Villanova's Jay Wright is coaching the team and is friends with Ellington even though he spurned Wright to attend UNC. It also appears Ellington is likely to be named to the team out of the 25 players trying out including Duke's DeMarcus Nelson.
