Two starters from the 2005 NCAA title team find themselves on both ends of the Kevin Garnett to Boston trade. The Celtics have signed Jackie Manuel out of the NBDL so they don't have to resort to picking up whoever is at the Cambridge YMCA to fill out their roster. Boston GM Danny Ainge called Manuel a "great defender" which was his MO when he helped UNC take the national title in 2005.
On the other end of the trade, Rashad McCants find himself in the middle of what can only be described as a mess. Minnesota received five players and two draft picks back for Garnett. The incoming group of players are largely mediocre or will most likely not be in Minnesota beyond next season. McCants is recovering from surgery to repair microfractures in his knee and now sees Garnett traded for a gaggle of parts that no one can be certain will fit together.
