With UCLA's loss, UNC is set to take the top spot in the Associated Press Poll for, surprisingly enough, the first time under Williams' tenure. (The last poll of the year comes prior to the NCAA tournament, so in 2005 the Heels trailed Illinois the entire season.) Carolina hasn't held the number one position since February 18th of 2001, a drought of 101 weeks.
The last time UNC was out of the top spot for that length of time was the decade-plus spell that ended in 1977.
