ACC Football Week #12: Preview

So John Swofford and his crack staff are sitting around making the schedule for this season and someone pipes up and says, "Hey you know what would be great? If the standings work out in such a away as to create two de facto semifinal games for the ACC Championship, one at Clemson in a made for ESPN prime time battle and the other including a rivalry happening on the last two weekends of the season.....on second thought there is no way that could happen"

Well here we are with Week #12 being ACC Semifinal #1 between Clemson and Boston College.  Both teams have two losses so whoever wins this game win the division regardless of what transpires when Boston College hosts Miami.  This will be followed next week by the game in Charlottesville between Virginia Tech and Virginia with that winner heading to Jacksonville to face the winner from this week.

Beyond that you have NC State and Maryland trying to find bowl eligibility and likely not finding it this week versus Wake Forest and Florida State respectively.  Wake Forest reeling from the drubbing at Clemson is not likely to allow NC State, as hot as they have been, to come into Winston-Salem and beat them.  FSU is a mess should be able to muster enough to beat Maryland despite the lightning they caught in a bottle against Boston College.  UNC tries to find something to play for against a Georgia Tech team whose coach is close to being fired which means they don't have much to play for either.  Virginia Tech warms up for Virginia, who has a perfectly placed bye week, with Miami coming to the town.  The Hurricanes goal?  Score points.  And the pride of the ACC rides with Duke in South Bend as the Devils, as horrid as they have been for a few years now will try with all of their might to still be better than Notre Dame has been this season thus tagging the Irish with the worst imaginable label at this point in college football: Losing to Duke.

FSU 21 Maryland 17
UNC 17 Georgia Tech 14
Duke 35 Notre Dame 20
Virginia Tech 24 Miami 10
Wake Forest 28 NCSU 19
Clemson 38 Boston College 31

Record Last Week: 4-2
Record This Season: 58-24
