NCSU Is Not Paying Attention to Your 332nd RPI Rank: Because the Pack absolutely played like they were the 332nd team in the country. First off, spare me any talk that Presbyterian is playing good basketball right now. The Blue Hose(yes I typed that correctly) came in 1-17 with a 1-8 record against teams 201st or lower in the RPI. They are dreadful and by halftime at the RBC Center today they led NCSU 20-17. I have no idea what the heck is wrong in Raleigh but having to rally in the second half to beat a 1-17 team who probably would lose to Oak Hill Academy is embarrassing. This is not debatable.
Kansas 2 ACC Expansion Teams 0: Pretty good week for Kansas versus recent ACC additions Virginia Tech in football and now Boston College in basketball. The Jayhawks ran BC on their own home court by 25 proving that playing at BC is not an intimidating prospect. It also proves that BC is simply not a capable team even when the #3 team in the country shows up on campus.
The Gist of It: A bad pun for a bad Maryland team who found an acorn as blind hogs are wont to do from time to time in beating Charlotte on the road no less. James Gist, who I really think is working on about six years of eligibility had 25 points and 10 rebounds only slightly overshadowing the 24 points in 40 minutes of playing time the Terps from Greivis Vasquez. Good thing these two showed up because no one else did except for Bambale Osby who had 10 points.
Seminoles are an Enigma: FSU struggled to handle a 4-7 LaSalle team at home which leads me to ask, "Will the real FSU please stand up?"
Sunday Slate: UNC and Clemson in early clash to get an inside track on winning the regular season which will be preceded on FSN by Duke returning to actions for the first time since December 20th against Cornell. I don't think any manner of rust Duke has is going to make a difference here. Also, Presbyterian continues their season long abuse of themselves with yet another road game, this one being Georgia Tech. Given how much trouble GT has had losing to teams they should have beaten, I would not necessarily call this one an easy game.
