Hansbrough Consensus All-American

Tyler Hansbrough was a unanimous selection to the AP All-American team adding to an already impressive list of postseason accolades. According to ACC Now, this selection makes Hansbrough a "consensus" All-American pick putting him is very rare air at UNC:

To earn "consensus" status, a player must win first-team honors from a majority of the following teams: the Associated Press, the USBWA, The Sporting News and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The
NABC will introduce its team on Saturday in San Antonio.

Hansbrough is the first consensus All America from UNC since Michael Jordan and Sam Perkins accomplished it in 1983 and 1984. Phil Ford (1977 and 1978) and George Glamack (1940 and 1941) also were two-time consensus All-Americas.

Well, since his number is being retired then Hansbrough was already in select company among UNC greats. This particular honor serves as additional confirmation....like we needed it.
