Heels look to defend ACC title beginning on Wednesday.
The UNC baseball team went to Coral Gables and following a 12-2 loss to open the series found their bats and won the final two games 10-6 and 12-11. The one loss to Miami allowed the Hurricanes to clinch the Coastal Division and by viture of overall record UNC will be seeded third in the ACC Tournament which begins later this week. Miami will be the #1 seed and Florida State the #2. UNC took two out of three games from both those teams at points this season.
The Heels will open the ACC Tournament in Jacksonville, FL versus sixth seeded Virginia at 8 PM on Wednesday. The ACC Tourney used a round robin format with all eight participants playing three games within their assigned divisions and quite frankly took me a few minutes to figure out. The two teams who emerge from those divisions will play for the ACC title on Sunday. UNC's schedule for the first three games is as follow with season records vs that in team in parenthesis:
Wednesday, 8 PM: vs #6 Virginia(2-1)
Friday, 8 PM: vs #7 Wake Forest(0-0)
Saturday 5 PM: vs #2 Florida State(2-1)
The Heels also tied the school record for regular season wins with 45 overall and 22 in the ACC.
