It's official; North Carolina will be spending December 27th in Charlotte at the Meineke Car Care Bowl playing West Virginia. It will be UNC's third car parts related bowl, following the Carquest Bowl in 1996 and the Continental Tire Bowl in 2004. Despite the large sums of money these auto parts suppliers have showered on the university, I have never patronized any of them.
The Heels beat West Virginia in the two teams' only meeting, 20 to 13 in the 1997 Gator Bowl.
