Scheduling Tidbits

Andy Katz highlights some of UNC's basketball schedule for 2010-11:

Carolina's schedule isn't done yet, but the Tar Heels will get Kentucky at home; go on the road for the ACC-Big Ten Challenge; play Texas in Greensboro, N.C.; take Tyler Zeller back near his hometown to play at Evansville; and face Rutgers at Madison Square Garden. North Carolina is also the headline team in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off Classic in San Juan with West Virginia, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, Hofstra, Davidson, Nebraska and Western Kentucky.

Depending on what the ACC-Big Ten Challenge decides to do, this schedule is by no means all that frightening. That is a good thing since this team needs a little buffer zone to find itself. Obviously playing UK and Texas sticks out but both of those teams lost key players and will be operating with much the same kind of youth as UNC has. You can possibly argue UNC has more talent on paper but right now I am less concerned about the parts and more about the sum. As for the ACC-B10 Challenge, getting the best TV matchup often dictates UNC's opponent which is why they have only ever played Michigan St, Illinois, Ohio St. and Indiana in the history of the event. It will be interesting to see if UNC gets someone besides those four and if the troubles of last season might obtain them an easier draw.In the Puerto Rico Tip-Off Classic, possible matchups with Vanderbilt or West Virginia would intriguing.

In other news, John Henson just announced on Twitter that he would be sharing a suite with the three freshmen. Can you say "core group?"
