In case you missed it, the Atlantic Coast Conference, ABC/ESPN, and Raycom announced their TV schedule and kickoff times for the first three weeks of the season. The Tar Heels, as previously announced, will open up against LSU in Atlanta on September 4 at 8:00 on ABC. Carolina is off on September 11 and will host Georgia Tech on September 18 at noon on Raycom.
The ACC TV schedule for the first three weeks can be found here.
The pre-determined ESPN broadcast schedule can be found here.
After the games of September 18, game times and TV will be announced weekly with ABC, ESPN, and Raycom making their choices (in that order) with a 12-day advanced notice, beginning on Monday, September 13 for games on Saturday, September 25.
(BTW, in case you were wondering what "ESPN3" is, it is the hideous creation formerly known as "ESPN360", where the content streams over the internet and is unavailable to most of the Carolinas because Time Warner doesn't carry it.)
Some of the early season matchups are particularly choice, such as the UNC-LSU tilt, but also of note are:
- A Labor Day doubleheader featuring Maryland vs. Navy and Boise State vs. Virginia Tech;
- Florida State at Oklahoma, Miami at Ohio State, and Virginia at Southern Cal on September 11; and
- A smorgasbord on September 18 with GT at UNC, Maryland at West Virginia, ECU at Virginia Tech, Alabama at Duke, BYU at Florida State, Clemson at Auburn, and at late-night snack of Wake Forest at Stanford.
Looks like I'd better just go ahead and mark 9/18 off my calendar of getting anything productive done.
