Darian Durant riding high in CFL

Since he was brought up in the comment section over the weekend, here's catching up with Darian Durant, statistically if not arguably UNC's best-ever quarterback.

After being cut by the Baltimore Ravens for being considered too small to play the position, Durant hooked on with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. After paying his dues for a couple of years, he led his team to a berth in the Grey Cup finals last season and is establishing himself as one of the league's top players this season.

Durant was named CFL offensive player of the week last week for what the CFL website called "an ‘instant classic’ and one of the best games in CFL history."

Durant threw for 478 yards and five touchdowns and ran for 52 yards and another score in a 54-51 double overtime victory against the Montreal Alouettes in a rematch of last year's Grey Cup. Durant led his team back from a 21-point, 3rd-quarter deficit to for the win.

He followed up that performance with a 250+yard effort and a passing and rushing touchdown in the Riders' 37-18 win over the B.C. Lions this weekend.

Here's hoping for another great season in the Great White North for one of Carolina's finest.
