Some Good News on Thursday? Houston Cleared to Play

Wait, what?

Thursdays have usually been the harbinger of doom for Carolina football throughout the NCAA unpleasantness, but for once some good news actually came down the pike on this Thursday, as senior running back Ryan Houston has been cleared and will play this weekend at Virginia, according to Inside Carolina.

Houston was held out of spring practice because of academic issues and was one of the "withheld" players thus far this season. He was UNC's short-yardage bulldozer back last season, but Johnny White and Shaun Draughn have had no problem laying the wood to would-be tacklers this season. Still, with all three backs in the stable and healthy, this is a real boost to the Heels' offensive fortunes.

THF: So like Draughn and Da'Norris Searcy, Houston is suspended for....nothing?

In other UNC football news, Butch Davis has now banned his players from Twitter after an apparently homophobic tweet by Quinton Coples. I know what you're saying - only six months too late, right? Social media has not been kind to Carolina football and basketball in 2010, so it's only fitting that a full-fledged tweet prohibition is in place.
