Marshall and Barnes ACC Co-ROW; UNC: 6th in AP; 7th in Coaches

These two are quite a tandem, one I would love to see playing together again next year. For the second time this season they are ACC co-rookies of the week.

Barnes averaged 18.0 points and 4.5 rebounds as North Carolina captured the league's regular-season championship with wins over Florida State and Duke. The Ames, Iowa, native hit the game-winning 3-pointer with 3.1 seconds to play in the Tar Heels' 72-70 win at Florida State. In Saturday's 81-67 win over the fourth-ranked Blue Devils, he had a team-high 18 points and five rebounds.

Marshall averaged 11.0 points, 9.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds in wins over Florida State and Duke. Against the fourth-ranked Blue Devils, the Dumfries, Va., freshman had 15 points and 11 assists while committing just two turnovers in 36 minutes. Earlier in the week, he had seven points and eight assists in a two-point win at Florida State.

It will be interesting to see how the Rookie of the Year voting goes, though I think Barnes is going to win it.

New polls are out and UNC made huge jumps in both from #13 to #6 in the AP poll and #7 in the coaches poll. That seems to agree with their RPI which is in the same range. Ken Pomeroy has them 12th in his ratings. I am not crazy about the giant leap. I was thinking three spots at most but it is what it is. UNC is now ranked higher than they were in the preseason which is really the way you want it, especially after dropping out of the poll from 8th. UNC also is ranked above everyone who has beaten them except for Duke who is #5 in both polls.
