Jared McAdoo Dismissed; Felder, Davidson Transfer; Mularkey Leaves Team

Butch Davis has got the waiver wire cooking baby!

First up, defensive lineman Jared McAdoo was dismissed from the team for the always cryptic "violation of team rules." What rules say you? Well, if one believes the rumor mill McAdoo will shortly find himself in the custody of local law enforcement for stealing things or something of that nature. That is strictly a rumor but it appears to be forming lower appendages as we speak. The fact UNC dismissed McAdoo is confirmation in the sense he obviously did something really, really bad. Butch Davis obviously felt the need to shove him out the door before whatever it is he did becomes public knowledge. McAdoo played 12 games last season and was listed at Tydreke Powell's backup on the spring depth chart at right defensive tackle. However, UNC has plenty of depth on the defensive line which makes absorbing this loss easier.

As for the transfers, defensive back Brendon Felder is transferring due to an illness in his family. Linebacker Herman Davidson is also transferring but no reason was given so let's make on up and say Davidson thought his particular brand of humor was under appreciated in the locker room. The spring depth chart listed Davidson at the SAM linebacker slot but the general consensus is Travis Hughes, Darius Lipford, Ebebe Okapu and Curtis Campbell all would see more time than Davidson. Lipford and Hughes have been highly touted. In short, this probably won't hurt given the personnel available.

Junior linebacker Shane Mularkey has opted to leave the team after having season ending shoulder surgery last year. Inside Carolina noted that his two years in Chapel Hill had been "plagued by injuries."

Oh and Yahoo's Charles Robinson tweeted over the weekend that UNC should expect the letter of inquiry and notice of allegations to come in "close proximity to each other." You will note Robinson is not putting a timetable on this. I am not saying he is wrong but predicting what or when the NCAA will take a crap much less issue letters of this nature is a fool's gamble. Wake me up when it actually happens.

Note: Analysis of depth chart added.
