Call Them The Seattle Diamond Heels

The Seattle Mariners are set to promote another former Tar Heel to the big leagues. Third baseman Kyle Seager is being promoted after a short but extremely productive stint at AAA Tacoma.

The Seattle Mariners announced Wednesday that the 2009 third-round pick Seager will join their 2009 No. 1 overall pick Dustin Ackley in the majors.

Seager will make most of his starts at third base after tearing it up the past two weeks in Triple-A ball, hitting .455/.500/.673 in 55 at-bats. Before that, Seager hit .312/.381/.459 in Double-A to begin the season.

Seager joins former UNC 2B Dustin Ackley who was called up by the Mariners in June. Ackley, who was the 2nd pick overall in the 2009 draft, has been living up the hype. In 16 games Ackley is batting .302 with 3 HRs, 8 RBIs, 2 SB and an OPS of .933.
