Ryan Houston will get the start at tailback despite not seeing much contact during training camp but I imagine we will see quite a bit of Gio Bernard who has impressed so far in practice.  Erik Highsmith will get the start opposite Dwight Jones and should have his chances with a fair amount of attention being paid to the other side of the field. Obviously Bryn Renner will get the start at QB. Devon Ramsey, back from NCAA death, will start at fullback.  Nelson Hurst is the tight end and in John Shoop's offense, the tight end is possibly the most important receiver on the field.

On defense, you quarterback killing defensive line will be Quinton Coples, Tydreke Powell, Donte Paige-Moss and highly touted Sylvester Williams. Senior Ebele Okakpu will get the start at "Sam" linebacker beside expected starters Kevin reddick and Zach Brown. The secondary will be the most watched unit on the team considering the perceived weaknesses there. Charles Brown is not listed because he still has to serve a one game suspension for $86 in improper benefits despite missing all of last season. Apparently the word "concurrent sentence" are not in the NCAA handbook. Speaking of the NCAA scandal, Jonathan Smith and Brian Gupton are listed at strong safety which is interesting since both sat out last year because of honor court penalties.

Nothing special about special teams. Casey Barth will kick and the return men are likely not going to scare anyone.

Barth, Reddick and Cam Holland have been named team captains.
