Not to knock the walk-ons, Justin Knox or Marcus Ginyard but this is the first Senior Night since 2009 that will feel like a celebration of accomplished players and during a season that wasn't completely off the road. It is a game against a team UNC should handle easily and the focus will be on Justin Watts and Tyler Zeller, four year seniors with NCAA title rings. That is just human nature for players who have done more to get a bigger buzz on Senior Night. This will be the last time Zeller and Watts take the Smith Center floor. Hopefully UNC dominates the game enough that both can get their curtain call at the end. Per UNC tradition, the seniors will start which means Zeller will be joined by Watts, David Dupont, Patrick Crouch and Stewart Cooper[My sincerest apologies for misspelling all three walk-on's names in the original post. No excuse for it.] UNC will also be wearing the Nike Elite Platinum uniforms which will get mixed reactions from the fans.
For UNC it is a simply proposition. Blow Maryland out and get ready for a trip to Durham. The Terps do have some size and quickness on the perimeter but there is no reason why UNC shouldn't handle this game in an efficient manner. There is little concern the Heels are looking ahead because Roy Williams treats Senior Night seriously and puts it on the underclassmen to take care of business for the seniors. The bottom line is for UNC to take care of business out of the gate, make this a celebration of the seniors and setup yet another epic season finale vs Duke.
