Editor's Note: Sorry for this being a day late but as you know something came up.

The Heels go 3-2 on the week but win a crucial series at Maryland.

The Diamond Heels split their mid-week games winning at my alma mater UNC Greensboro before losing at home to Gardner-Webb.

In Greensboro, Benton moss pitched 5.2 scoreless innings and UNC got RBIs from Chaz Frank and Colin Moran to win 5-1. UNC returned home to Boshammer Stadium the next day falling to Gardner-Webb 7-4. Luis Paula got the start and was rocked early giving up five runs in 1.1 IP. The Heels rallied to make it 4-3 after six on a 3-4 performance from Jacob Stallings. Gardner-Webb responded with three runs in the top of the sixth off Hobbs Johnson and Cody Penny. The loss snapped a six game winning streak.

Over the weekend UNC won 2 of 3 from a much improved Maryland team taking games one and two before dropping the series finale 1-0. Kent Emanuel moved to 5-0 on the season giving up three runs in 7.1 innings. Michael Morin closed the door(again) for his seventh save of the year. Colin Moran had two RBIs. On Saturday UNC won 9-5 behind six strong innings from Chris Munnelly and a 12 hit offensive attack. Chaz Frank had three RBIs and Mike Zolk went 3-5 scoring three times and collecting an RBI. Tom Zengel and Parks Jordan also had two RBIs each.

UNC went for the sweep on Sunday but fell short 1-0. Benton Moss followed up his performance from the middle of the week with a six inning, 10 strikeout performance giving up the only run of the game. UNC managed seven hits(three of them from Frank) but left seven on base and was unable to get a run across versus Maryland's Brett Harman and Korey Wacker.

The Heels now settle in for a nine game home stand with two in-state ACC rivals coming to town over the next two weekends. UNC will host NC State in a series that will start on Saturday and end on Monday. The reason for the shift is ESPNU is now showing ACC baseball on Monday nights as part of the regular programming. UNC will play NC State next Monday, March 26th at 7:00 PM on ESPNU. This will UNC's first fully televised game of the season.
