Heels Join ACC Barnstorming Tour

Via the Gaston Gazette

Tyler Zeller won’t be the only big-name North Carolina basketball player in Gastonia this Friday after all.

Underclassmen Kendall Marshall, John Henson and Harrison Barnes plan to join the ACC Barnstorming Tour as it swings in to Forestview High School, according to tour organizer Michael Sumner.

All three have declared for the upcoming NBA Draft but none of them have joined the Barnstorming Tour on its previous stops. The tour is usually limited to seniors.

"They are not going to play (in the exhibition game), but they will be honorary coaches and we plan to involve them in the dunk and the 3-point contest," Sumner said. "We are excited because this will be the first and only stop planned at this time for these guys and it will be a chance for Gastonia basketball fans to see them up close."

The trio will join Miles Plumlee (Duke), C.J. Williams (N.C.State), Alex Johnson (N.C.State) and other ACC seniors for the autograph session after the game and will be signing autographs in the VIP reception. Medical Center Pharmacy on Cox Road in Gastonia is also planning an autograph session prior the game from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The players will then visit and tour Holy Angels in Belmont before the 7:30 game at Forestview.

Zeller, when he's not driving Amish buggies, has already played in some of these games on the tour. Since Marshall, Barnes and Henson are not seniors they cannot play but having them come down for autographs and to participate in the dunk and three point contest is great for the fans.

In other news, John Henson has retained Jim Tanner of Williams & Carroll LLP to represent him. Tanner also represents Marvin Williams and Brandan Wright.

And Harrison Barnes is finally on Twitter.
