Sigh.

So who should we as UNC fans root for here? Yeah, neither option is enticing.
On one hand you have Kansas and all the UNC ties which many Tar Heel fans will latch onto as a reason to pull for the Jayhawks. A win by Kansas would be a fourth title for the Jayhawks and tie Duke which could serve as a source of annoyance for the Blue Devils. Of course Bill Self winning his second title would tie him with Roy Williams and set off a whole narrative about how awesome Self is which I honestly can do without.
Then there is Kentucky....yeah I don't think anyone wearing Carolina Blue can stomach that unless you think John Calipari winning a title would push him out the door to the New York Knicks.
An interesting numbers note. Kentucky has 37 wins on the season. Historically speaking 37 wins is like a magical barrier in college basketball no one can break. Duke got to 37 wins twice and lost the title game both times. Illinois had 37 wins when UNC beat them in the 2005 NCAA final. In 2008 Memphis won its 38th game against UCLA in the national semifinals before losing to Kansas in the title game. Then Memphis had all 38 wins vacated. Given the 38 wins mark is a curse in college basketball one of two things is going to happen. Either Kentucky doesn't win tonight or the Wildcats win and it gets vacated which is comical since that is the joke everyone is going to make anyway.
Comments if you have 'em.
